Capcom needs to create/publish games based on new IP. You can only feed gamers the same thing (even with improved graphics/mechanics) for so long. When they make a game based off new IP, it usually ends up being quite good (examples: DMC, Resident Evil, Viewtiful Joe, etc.). Well, at least they're being more realistic with profit forecasts now.

On a completely unrelated note: I think Capcom needs to get the license to make Disney games again because the old Disney platformers for the NES were awesome.

That's too bad. Resident Evil 6 was disappointingly mediocre and I wasn't interested in the new direction they took Devil May Cry, but they've put out some really great games the last few years that've made me hopeful. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Resident Evil: Revelations, Dragon's Dogma, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, etc. Ace Attorney 5 also looks amazing.

These companies just have to get back to reasonable budgets and expectations. There are countless examples of great games that look, play and sell well, and from companies that don't need 10+ million copies sold to be happy, because they didn't go overboard on marketing or bite off more than they can chew with unrealistic budgets/deadlines. They don't even have to be little indie darlings either. Dark Souls shipped ~2 million copies across all platforms and Namco Bandai couldn't be happier. Ni no Kuni, also from Namco Bandai, didn't even do half that, and they're calling it a success.

Spending hundreds of millions of dollars developing games that have to sell 5+ million just to break even is not only unnecessary, but it's unsustainable. Hopefully the companies in charge of my favorite IP figure that out sooner rather than later.
