That's the BIOS setting. And that was when I originally built the machine 4 years ago. I re-seated my cooler today as I'd been having problems with heat stability recently. My temps are much lower now (idle at 34-35 instead of 46-47).

Re-finding my stable overclock and I'm starting lower.

Did you adjust any timings or other voltages? I'll pull my full-settings in a moment.

CPU 1.4v
PLL 1.6v
FSB Term 1.4v
NB 1.55v
SB 1.05v

DRAM (PC26400)

5:6 ratio
tCL 5
tRCD 5
tRP 5
tRAS 5
tRRD 3
tRFC 50

Congrats on the new upgrade. if you are hitting 85c you will need better cooling and good thermal paste. even with a decent cooler my q6700 was hitting about 85c too, i once hit 100c and it throttled.

I ended up getting a q9550 and Hyper 212+ EVO. I'd suggest a well reviewed popular heat sink like 323+ EVO.

So for the above, core#2 failed after 4 hours, 12 minutes.
Will scale back to 372x9 and try again.

d00d...q6600 must suck some juice because it heats up my PSU like no other chip does..not even Thubans.
IMHO..You need a bigger PSU.
PS:Whatcha doin' with that e5300? sneaky.gif
set static tread to 9-12 ..may help stability
transaction booster thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif: OFF..always

Ok I'll set Transaction booster to disabled.

So the below settings were stable for 12 hours and 18 minutes:
372 x 9 (3.347GHz)
CPU 1.4v
PLL 1.6v
FSB Term 1.4v
NB 1.55v
SB 1.05v

DRAM (PC26400)
892MHz
5:6 ratio
tCL 5
tRCD 5
tRP 5
tRAS 5
tRRD 3
tRFC 50
tWR 6
tWTR 3
tRTP 3

CPU-z reports core voltage as 1.368v idle, 1.328v load
35C idle, 59C load

Any suggestions? I'll post back test results tomorrow.
