I know it has been awhile since my last update but I've been mulling over a few ideas in my head for this build. The original plan was to get this all built up and then get a nice 1440p Crossover 27Q monitor and use that until I had the money for a second 670 and then I wanted to go triple Crossover 27Qs in portrait. But the more and more research I did that just didn't make fiscal sense. Because even if I went with another 670 in SLI then I still would not be able to max games out due to the insane resolution spanned across three displays in Surround. And if I really wanted to get that plan to work I would probably need at least two 780s or preferably two Titans but then why would I stay Z77? It would make more sense to go 2011 to get the most out of my Titans. All these ideas were rushing through my head when I finally figured out a solution. Instead of going tri-1440p monitors in surround why don't I just go tri-1080p monitors instead? That would solve the money issue as 3 decent 24" displays cost a whole lot less than three Crossovers and then I could keep to the "original" plan of going SLI. So that is what I'm going to do. I'm gonna go with three of these puppies:
Acer B246. It looks great and it already comes with the ability to rotate to portrait so that will save me some money when it comes to buying stands. This is not set in stone, so if any of you guys have some suggestions just shoot them my way. I would probably also de-bezel them as well. But I'd have to wait and see how they are in person.
Other than that I've just been slowly making progress on the relocation of the front I/O along with some practice bending acrylic. And before you ask no, it's not for watercooling. I'm still doing the original plan of copper tube that will be chrome plated.
I did receive something pretty sweet in the mail today though.
I just can't believe how gorgeous this board is! Gonna pop my 3570k out of my current rig to check the mobo to make sure everything is kosher tomorrow. If everything checks out it will be time to install those VERY sexy blocks from MIPS (may they rest in peace). Can't wait!
Now I'm just waiting on the 680 Ni-Bl block to get back in stock over at Sidewinder. Once that happens I will order the tubing and then this build should start to get underway
See ya next time. Byyyyyyyyeeeeee!
