Non Waterblock 8800gtx cooling?

post #1 of 6
Thread Starter
K, the 8800gtx from eVGA is flying, accept it's idling at 57c, and the rising heat is rising my CPU temp 7 degrees, from 31 to 38, these temps will not work with me.

I'm going to return my 7950 GT to best buy, and while I"m there I'm going to buy a PCI slot cooler and put my GPU on the bottom PCI'E slot which also runs at 16x, and place the PCI slot blower above it, hopefully trapping and expelling all that hot air before hitting my CPU... so my other question is..;

Are there any non water block coolers for the 8800gtx? I still have my Zalman Vf900 fan but I doubt it will adapt to the 8800gtx right now, so does anyone know???

i don't think so i would give them a month cause the card just came out so it will be a bit before a cooler is out for it.

You'd need a monster of a cooler to get it below stock. Try AS5 I think the 8800GTX could eat a couple silly little PCI coolers for breakfast too

The stock air cooling that comes on these cards is pretty good, other than water, I'd say maby add some more case fans.

Speaking of case fans, I got a spare 90mm fan, and set it blowing directly at the instake, and it dropped the temp about 6 degrees, I guess I will have to settle with that for now

So next time I get back from out of town I gotta cut out another hole in my side panel lol
