Fresh Skyrim install, what order for some key mods

Thread Starter
So I did a fresh win7 install and have Skyrim ready and waiting, oh I need nexus modmanger tongue.gif, anyway

Should I install the the HD res pack from steam, or just get the latest HD pack off SKnexus. I'm waiting on the cash for a 2560x1600 IPS, and I have a 7950 CF, so is there 4k textures, or is the HD 2k pack the best?

Whats the best order for this, I had about 20-30 mods last time, most for textures, landscapes, plants, crypts, water, only a few for weapons/armor, and some extra player homes/castles

Any tips, suggestions? Thanks

I have no idea if some mods overwrite others, etc

I have the dragonbourn, heathfire, Dawngaurd...the dragon editor and a few others.I have not tried any of the HD packs. I hear that you can't revert once you do add that to the game, and that it sometimes effects certain mods outside of dlc like steam.

yea you can lol
to unuse a mod, disable it in the mods section of the skyrim splash screen. it doesn't uninstall it, because whats its added to your steam account it will always download it, but at least you can disable it.
oh and you only have to do it once, not every time the game starts

gooogled;

The "Nexus" 2K Maps use a new kind of texture map. One the creator decides and so forth. Meaning you are going to see a significant change in looks. Quality is a different matter altogether.

Bethesda's Texture maps I believe are also 2K but they are the ORIGINAL texture maps. Meaning all you will see are sharper textures. It's not going to change what a rock looks like, that's what a new texture mod will do. Such as the one you are talking about.

Is the original texture pack better than modders? Depending on what you want it for.. Yes, it's significantly better. The basic weapons, armor and shields will look better than what you get at Nexus.. Unless you are looking for a new texture for said items.

The best thing is to use them together because Bethesda's mod doesn't cover the entire game. It gets a lot of them but misses a lot of the world textures. That's where a 2K Texture pack can come in and work in conjunction with it.

alright last time I got the Bethesda 1 1st, so I'll that again right now. Actually it seems steam already DLed it and installed

I wonder if my old saves will work if I don't get all the same mods this time.

It depends on the mods I think but most probably not since you mentioned they're mostly for textures.

About the primary mods with DLCs, I have my plugins arranged like this and is still working perfectly. (With a few other mods in between like WARZONES)

Main
Dawnguard
Hearthfire
Dragonborn
HD Textures 01
HD Textures 02
HD Textures 03
Unofficial Skyrim Patch
Unofficial Dawnguard Patch
Unofficial Hearthfire Patch
Unofficial Dragonborn Patch
Unofficial HD Textures Patch

All other texture mods below as much as possible
