As it is shopping with performance-pcs is not worth it under $50 because of their awful shipping. They overcharge to make a profit on it. I just tried to purchase 11.1g Of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaught for $23.95, but shipping would have been $8.20 for USPS Priority, the "cheapest" option. They state right there that it weighs .25 pounds. That's 4 ounces, which DOES NOT cost that much to ship even if you use USPS Priority Mail. It's complete bull, they're profiting off of shipping.
That's a light product and only costs about $2.18 to actually ship using USPS First class (which isn't even an option?!), certainly <6 for Priority.

Conclusion?
Performance PCS is profiting off of shipping! thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Furthermore, on a previous order I paid something like $6+ for shipping two tubes of Phobya LM (about $7.50 a piece). And the shipping cost on the label said $3.50. That is messed up. I don't care how "little" it is. #1 I'm on a budget, and #2 it's just plain wrong. Screw Performance PCS.

Yeah because nobody has to physically find/collect your items, pack them and boxes, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, shipping envelopes, and shipping labels are all free.
I sent them an email about this.

USPS Priority Boxes are free.
A few pieces of tape and paper costs cents and should not be added to orders. It's the cost of operation.
Packing is extremely inexpensive in bulk as well, also part of the cost of operation. Call it overhead plain and simple and be done with it. Business 101: Don't nickel and dime your customers. Don't overcharge for shipping would be #2.
USPS First class isn't available because it gives them an excuse to charge more to make profit, or perhaps because it takes plain boxes and they only use the free USPS boxes (which are priority/flat rate only). I don't know the economics of it but it's a reasonable explanation.
Packing and printing labels are done by people who are paid to do that. It's not an extra expense. It's an expense period. What if it said "Electricity" under shipping and handling, and "Boxes" and "Printer Toner" oh and don't forget "tips". We really need those. /s

Perhaps they are setting their prices low to draw in customers and setting shipping high to make up for it. EIther way whatever they're doing is incredibly shady and I intend to take a photo of my order and the amount of the label when I order next month. The discount code doesn't even fully cover the extra cost! It's over 10% extra And here we are 300+ posts in going bananas for the 8% discounts when it reality we're just being given almost normal prices for a day. hmmsmiley02.gif

If they want to fix shipping and keep profits the same then they should set item prices like everyone else on earth does, - sell them for what they want to make, and charge the cost of shipping to the customer. That's more efficient thatn free shipping for both parties as it doesn't outprice potential buyers with excessive pricing and it doesn't short change the seller because the exact shipping cost is covered.

I just went to make an order with a few more things to make it more efficient and a damn 11 gram tube of thermal paste in a plastic bag for packaging raised the shipping price by 3 freaking dollars. I have to pay $12 to ship 4 items weighing less than 13 ounces packed. It should have been <$4. With an order total near $58 how is that OK?

THAT'S LITERALLY OVER 20% ON SHIPPING!

It doesn't matter. It still takes time for someone to collect your items, pack them up, tape the box shut, print the shipping label out, and attach it to the box. I'm sure you understand how much of a PITA this is and how much time it takes, even if you've done it a lot before (I have over 100+ HeatWare and the majority is from shipping physical items).

Agree with this. Although I do cringe when I see shipping prices for smaller items to reach me out in the west coast. I usually try to wait it out with larger orders if i can.  However i totally understand the work they put into processing our orders, it's nice to see they validate each item with each associate's initials to the packing slips. It also doesn't help i already pay premiums for two day delivery haha. That's the choice I make for instant gratification :D

Yeah it absolutely sucks for small items.
Yeah, it's tough when you want something small and only PPC is selling it. You just either have to pay the instant gratification tax, wait for a decent coupon code, or wait until you have a larger order so the shipping makes sense.

On PPC's side, no one wants to go through 10 minutes of work to find, box, and ship one little tube of thermal paste where they make maybe 1 dollar of net profit. It's just not worth it to the company or the employee. Maybe they should do a minimum purchase floor for cheaper shipping... that would make more sense.
made a few orders from PPC recently, great selection and rush processing is nice. Not much to say about upcharging usps, but nowhere on the website does it say they only charge the actual shipping rate. 2nd day aired everything via fedex from them.

It is called shipping and HANDLING. while you might work for free, i'm guessing they don't.

They have to pay their employees to go pick the items off the warehouse shelves, package it for you and prepare your item in the box to be shipped. Part of that is the "Handling" charge part of "Shipping and handling" and then they have to pay for the box they use.

And yes, they only ship priority or better because they get free tracking number and free insurance included in priority. I'm actually pleased that they do this, and I would pay more for that.

Perhaps you haven't ordered from them before, they always go above and beyond to package their items and over the years and multiple orders I've made with them nothing ever arrived damaged.

So yes, their shipping is worth it. If you want a single small item with cheap shipping just go get it off amazon or ebay with free shipping, in less time it took you to come here and write your "nastygram" message.

Don't feel bad, I'm only 8hrs away and I get gauged with the same prices you do. I understand shipping and handling, but they are VERY high on shipping costs even when buying the same parts from a few other competitors. I pay it, because I have to. But it will be nice when someone else comes along to stop capitalizing on such a monopoly.

Kind of off topic, but Frozen CPU is still in business and the owner is taking orders via phone and email now. There's an update on their website.

So we do have competition still.

Did you just count FCPU as competition? lol meh, I'm not going to risk that. I lost out on the very first go around. They have burned my bridge at this point.
