h100i with GELID slim 12 led fans in a HAF 912 case "No Cutting"

I'm doing a new build for a 8350 and when i did my last build for my 955BE i ordered a Cooler Master 912 HAF case and through a mailing mix up i ended up with 2 identical 912's so one ended up sittin in the box . Well now im gettin around to doing the new build and already had the case so if i had to cut it up a bit , well....no big deal , but if i could get away with out , that much the better . So i'm thinkin if the 912 supports 2x120mm fans in the roof it should support a 240mm Radiator Right ?......right !.......well kinda .....Yes the Rad fits ! Period..........BUT .......Not with 25mm thick fans . So I ordered GELID Slim 12 PL Blue LED fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835705066 and then i went to my Local ACE Hardware Store where (8) 6/32 thread x 3/4" long phillips head screws were had for attaching the fans to the Rad . While i was there i also picked up (8) 6/32 thread 3/8 long phillips head for hanging the Rad off the top of the Case . Now im Just lettin all who think about doin this know ....It's TIGHT due to case shape ! I'm using a Biostar TA990FXE Board and it clears the Tall Corsair 16gig of Vengeance ram and the Ram hold down clips well . In the back by the I/O panel ......well thas TIGHT but with a lil patients and 15-20 min ....You can Do It ! thumb.gif Now how it cools will be interesting , and if it dont cool as how i want it too , well more modding will be key !rolleyes.gif

i had to RMA the h100i , as i was plugging the fan control wires into the cpu cooler pump the connection gave way frown.gif , it should be here on tues , so shortly after that i will be able to play with it and see how it cools , right now the 8350 has a stock cooler on it , and when it has a load on it it's got an annoying 5300 rpm noise lol , Also got a email from Trip Custom PC's that my water cooler and fan bracket for my 7950 is done , that should be here shortly . http://triptcc.com/gallery/brackets/ cant wait biggrin.gif

I think it was just a fluke , i haven't read about any one else with that problem , I'v read a lot of good reviews on the h100i . My goal is to see how close to 5.0 i can get stable enough to play BF3 , the Gelid fans pushing through the rad and the stock h100i fans pulling on the top of the case , the screws from that go through the top fans will hold the rad to the inside roof of the case .

Got the H100i back from RMA and its back in and up and runnin , spent whole day yesterday playing with voltage and clocks , case looks a mess i didnt do any cable management yet , been waiting just to get it up and runnin , sooooo . this thing seems to throttle a lot , will be workin on that , but i got it up to 4.8 unstable yesterday and tried to boot into windows @ 5.0 .....unsuccessful sadsmiley.gif ......., But on the brighter side i can play BF3 @ 4.7 !!! biggrin.gif 1.5volts and NB just a shade higher as well .

Prime 95 didnt fair very well at first with just the 2 ,15.8mm thin Gelid fans but BF3 played great with very nice temps . Just to see what , i added the 2 stock h100i fans to top of the case pulling and was rewarded with 45 mins of prime95 with temps no higher then 47c @ 4.7 thumb.gif i am thrilled with that . Need to do some more tweakin some cable management and see where it goes from there .

But as far as the 2 15.8mm fans they do a fine job on BF3 , they only fail at prime95 , wich i don't play wink.gif add the 2 stock fans and you get the full effect .

gotta change oil in truck and mow the yard and grill somethin but i be back biggrin.gif:thumb:

Reading this I'm now not too sure if the Slim Scythe fans I want on it will do the job...
There shouldn't be any throttling if it's cooled by an h100i ... or am I wrong ?

Anyway, thanks for the update and keep it coming!
(And tidy that case!!! biggrin.gif)

I think i still may not have the bios power saving options all correct yet , i believe this is why it's throttling , the temps are nice & low with this push pull . I think the skythe fans are even slimmer @ 12mm then the GELID's @ 15.8mm . unsure of there static pressure , I'm a firm believer of real world testing , if it works for what your gonna do with it at temps that wont wreck your equipment then ya all good .
with just the 2 gelids runnin 4.7 it dont take but 90 seconds to go to 62 degrees c running prime95 . but plays BF3 nice , If i didnt overclock or game i wouldnt need the push pull and the GELID's would be fine .smile.gif and on the plus side the GELIDS look real good with h100i .

Yeah that's right and I can't find any info on the static pressure it creates.

Also, do you think a Corsair 750 W PSU is enough for OCing the FX8350 ?
See sig rig for other power consumers. But basically a few hard drives, a 560 Ti and an H50.

I had the same problem with the weak connection wire, though Corsair had no problem with sending me a brand new unit to replace the h100i and the faulty wire..... i was expecting a wire replacement but got a brand new cooler. Corsair has good customer service IMO; you shouldnt overlook that.
