[seekingalpha] The Turnaround Accelerates For AMD - Page 2

I've always been Nvidia for GPU's (not fanboy by any chance i know they have passed their fair amount of junk so rolleyes.gifbiggrin.gif), I'm just familiar with the drivers the interface and "brand" name settings etc i ACTUALLY like the PhysX effects in some of the games i play. But i see what AMD are trying to do (the whole gaming on AMD x86 on PC and console). And i love the APU idea (just wish they had more "grunt" imho) for true 1080p + high setting gaming. And as sure as when the CAN do that i will be ALL OVER ONE:D.

I'm still rocking the GTX 470 in the sig and to be honest rarely game at the moment. But find myself looking at AMD GPU's more in reviews (though i think Nv "stuck it to them" with the 650Ti BOOST imho:o). I spotted a review for a 7870 (Tahiti?? 15xx Shaders) and thought i was a well balanced card. When the next consoles drop (in my opinion!) you will be better owning an AMD GPU. If nothing else the ports will be a doddle:D.

Always be AMD for CPU's but i'm feeling the itch imho! i have an AM3 board (will "work" with the 8xxxFX chips but some "quirks"). I hear that Steamroller will be AM3+ BUT what after?? To purchase ANOTHER AMD MoBo at this time seems foolish imho so i'm kind of stuck imho:

Buy 8xxxFX and live with the quirks etc.
Buy new AM3+ MoBo AND 8xxxFX but could be a dead socket after Steamroller!

The APU's don't have the "grunt" imho so FM2 is out the window (these things need 6+ cores and some more shaders imho). This rig does everything i need for now BUT at some point will need some more "poke"

Thanx.

As an opinion piece, it does not belong in the news area.
