Maybe older games being run at a higher frame rate is why I absolutely disdain video games after not playing them for a while and attempted playing stuff on newer consoles. There is also too much to control. The only games I can play are racing games with a keyboard. I tried a steering wheel and found that single aspect being real made the rest of it seem too unrealistic. There was never enough feedback in a video game to make me know when a car is going too fast for a turn.

I've been scouring Google-translated Chinese sites trying to order one (Skyworth 39E780U) - at 113 ppi that would make a fantastic computer monitor for non-color critical 2D work (30hz at 4K is acceptable to me). I can't find any on aliexpress and the like, only on taobao.com and I don't feel very safe ordering on such a site (especially not knowing shipping costs up-front). Would you mind sharing how you ordered yours?

Can't share it trough here due to OCN's TOS.
I can pm you the link of my agent if you like, but they didn't actually want me to buy it they found it to be too big to ship and too big a risk of damage.
Eventually I agreed to take all responsibility and resorted to a bank transfer instead of normal covered PayPal.

Skyworth has plans to bring out a 30 and a 32 inch model in 2014 which isn't a tv but a professional monitor the only thing about that is the price due to it being meant for the prof market.

The game can be rendered at say 30fps, 80fps or even 200fps. But that has nothing to do with the refresh rate of the monitor itself.
Basically your card(s) are rendering whatever fps you are seeing in your software fps monitoring software but the monitor is still running at 30hz, hope that helped biggrin.gif

So to avoid that worthless rendering you can limit your fps using Precision X so that your cards run cooler and quieter (not really a problem for your Titan though xD.

Very true, but for my surround res my 2 titans need more power, nice to need a limit I guess LOL and my titans stay NICE and cool with water so GIVE ME MORE MHZ HAHAHA

I do wonder though if limiting the fps to say 30 would be a less smooth experience than letting it run at 40 or 50 or whatever the cards can push. Even when I had a 60hz screen 100fps still felt more responsive (less latency) though the screen could never show the whole 100fps.

Higher frame rate should still make input response quicker even if the screen can't display the higher frame rate.

I really like the fact that 4K comes together real nice way faster than expected.
Europe is still a bit gimped on that front but I guess we will also have a Seiki kind of brand sooner or later.
Sony's and Sharp's price point are just too dam high.

is this true? not asking for proof. Ive always thought this was the case. The fresh/fluid feeling you get on a game that runs 60 frames flat on a 60hz monitor vs a game that runs 100 frames on a 60hz monitor? Ive always wondered why? both are only displaying 60 frames but the 100 frames one looks faster and therefore better in action games?
