Can you flash regular XFX 7970 Double D to a GHZ Black Edition?

Hi,

Recently I purchased this XFX card off ebay, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150596.
My original plan was to crossfire it with my current Sapphire Reference 7970 which is overclocked to 1125/1575 @ 1.175v.
When I installed the new card I realised straight away that the XFX card was voltage locked as I couldnt even push it past 950/1400.

I am now wondering if it is possible to flash the bios of my XFX to the GHZ/Black Edition bios?
If it is even possible, would it be safe?
My Double D runs at locked 1.175v and still cant push to 1Ghz, What voltages do the Black and GHZ Editions run at?
Could I have just gotten an unlucky chip?

Any help would be appreciated.

I think you just got unlucky my friend. I have 2 of the Black Edition Ghz cards and they both came at 1050/1500mhz at 1.175V. I would say contact newegg and see if you can get some kind of return or something along those lines, now I cant guarantee they will offer you a return because the card does work perfectly fine at stock but hey its worth a shot.
