my guess is these Richland APU's are 10 - 20% faster than HD 5200 and the APU's coming out later this year are 100% faster.

Exactly. The sad thing is that Intel's integrated graphics would probably be far worse than they are if it wasn't for Apple pushing Intel to improve on the graphics front. Anyone remember the old Pentium M/Centrino days and the Intel GMA graphics? Back then, Intel treated graphics like it was not worth any effort whatsoever.

On the mobile front, even with their improved graphics they still insist on keeping their best Haswell graphics (HD 5200) for select mobile i7 processors. Way to go Intel.

Pretty much this. lol

Also, is the 3DMark 2013 an ultimate judge for a GPU's performance? I'm more interested to know "actual" gaming performance. smile.gif

nvidia must be worried.
Both amd and intel igpu are becoming good enough that there is no need for the low end gpus like GT620 / GT630.
Plus with the new consoles coming out with amd apus, the only market left for nvidia is the high end gamers and workstations.

Yeah that would be the question. Not that it matters too much IMO. How is the power consumption of this CPU vs the 3570 (i know I could google it, but I am lazy).

It'll be interesting to see how HD 5200 stacks up... I'm uncertain whether Intel's architecture will scale so well with such a massive addition of SPs.

Trinity's power consumption depends on what you're doing; it's much more competitive when you're using the CPU only but loading the massive GPU results in notably higher power consumption than the competition. (It also results in frame rates that are actually playable, but that's besides the point.) We can only assume that these chips are similar, though I would not be surprised at all to see power consumption improvements.

It doesn't. The A10-5800K trades blows with the Ivy i3s, usually winning in multi-threaded and usually losing in single-threaded. Considering that the 6000 series doesn't seem to use a revised architecture, even if a new stepping results in a ~5% IPC increase the 6800K's 300MHz clock speed bump over the 5800K won't be anywhere near enough to put it in i5 territory.

Kaveri, however... we'll see how that compares, especially if those rumored hex-core APUs turn out to be real. thumb.gif
