BIOS shows memory frequency around 1333mhz

Thread Starter
I have corsair vengeance 1600mhz 4X4 GB (16GB) memory installed. Yet when I look at the memory settings in the BIOS it shows the memory frequency at 1333mhz.

I have not overclocked the CPU or RAM and the memory profile option in the BIOS has been selected as none.

Get CPU-Z (here) and install. Then go to the memory tab and look at the frequency reported there. Sometimes, the BIOS can wrongly report information (my W520 BIOS detected 6GB when Windows 7 x64 detected 16 GB).

Set the memory profile in the BIOS to XMP. That should set it to the proper settings. Alternatively, you could set the frequency and timings in BIOS manually.

Yes the XMP profile worked. Now the BIOS shows memory frequency at 1600Mhz while CPU-z shows it at 808Mhz.

That's normal, it should be like that. DDR means double data rate. Essentially 800x2 is your clock speed. No worries smile.gif
