[hardocp] NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN 3-Way SLI Review - Page 10

I like how all amd fanboy are on the defensive about the problem they are having and then nag the price on the Titan.

It's not about the price you pay, it's about the experience you get. Totally worth spending 200$ more for 680 sli vs 7970 because you simply get a way better experience. AMD is great when you are on a budget and don't look at dual card setup but one would be crazy to go with the red team for an enthusiastic setup until they fix those problems (Nvidia had it solved years ago, amd did not do anything because no oen could prove it, now they play ketchup)

Well the funny thing at the 5760x1080 res the price:performance isn't even too bad -

3x ghz editions=$1350
3x titans=$3000

130% more expensive for 75% more performance. At the top end of the market thats actually quite good biggrin.gif

Not extremist lol and for what. I am just implying Crysis 3 does not deserve 4 x Titans. Usually people build their machines around one game. I did it for BF3.

I'd say at his resolution and refresh rate, the 4 titans is about the only way to go.

I think you got the math wrong.

3000/1350 = 2.222 = 220%.

Personally i can easily tell you AMD has not spend enough time in 3 monitor resolution scaling. HD 7970 should crush GTX680s. With all the problems they have to solve now it will take time and people that play with these setups are few in numbers.

Vega always has the 4 best cards out, period. He's had 4 580's, 4 7970's, 4 680's and this just from the first time I saw one of his builds. I am sure the trend probably goes further back. Honestly, his builds are pretty cool and definately worth checking out.

That's not how you come up with a percentage difference. doh.gif

Don't want to turn this into yet another math lesson.

His numbers are correct, though it's actually a 122% price increase.

$3000 for video cards lachen.gifyou could buy 6 GTX 680s or 7 HD7970s for that price lol.

Anyways, its pretty obvious that the titan would win. 7800 cores, 196 ROPs, 672 TMUs vs 4500 cores, 96 ROPs, 336 TMUs it's like comparing 3 way GTX480 to 3 way GTX280.... surprise! the 480s would win. They come out a year later of course they will be better. Its clear AMD still have alot of work to do in this field and i would sooner buy 3 680s over 3 7970s right now because of these issues but how can any sane person compare hardware that costs twice as much as the other on an equal field? And then they are amazed when it wins rolleyes.gif

Let me put this another way, it's literally like comparing 3 way 7850 ($600) (if it was possible) to 3 way 7970 ($1200), would you take a comparison like that seriously?

Well now I know that spending $3k will get me better graphics performance than $1.4k.

Sure if the 7850 and the 7970 were from different manufacturers and were the flagship single GPU for each.

And adding a fourth GPU in this test would hardly have made a difference.
