AND, as SLK discovered, the MSI reference cards are back in stock on Newegg, and it looks like they got a bunch of them. $400, free shipping, and 4 free games. Man that's so tempting... but I can't stop looking at that Lightning BE on SuperBiiz!! tough choice... I've made up my mind that I want to crossfire but if the TF3 I get back is a terrible clocker it might not even be worth getting a second card at all because it will just hold back the other card.

Diamond HD 7970 available at newegg. changing the TIM to coollaboratory liquid ultra or prolimatech pk-1 should help you keep temps at around 75c with overclocking to 1.2 ghz.

check with newegg if the 4 game coupons will be given with this card

Yeah I saw that too. If newegg doesn't include the game bundle with it I'll pass and wait for more MSI reference 7970s to come in or buy SLK's. And if not that, it'll be the Lightning BE.

Yup, Newegg just confirmed to me that they can't give me a game code with the Diamond, claiming there are no codes available for that particular card. Doesn't mean that wont change, but currently they can't offer it. Seems like they're expecting codes from Diamond but they wont supply them. What the hell Diamond...

I plan on doing a detailed review on this card soon.
About in a week.

I'll be sure to post it in here when I'm done.

Check out my response right below his post in that thread. Newegg still isnt coughing up the games.

I just want the MSI ref to come back in stock... a recent buyer got one that clocked to 1275 @ 1.256v on AIR. Air from the reference cooler no less. 77% ASIC. Plus it's $20 cheaper and it's an MSI card meaning it's guaranteed to play nice with Afterburner (IMO the best OC utility out there), you have lots of BIOS options with other MSI 7970 BIOSes that will likely be compatible, and you have a fully-transferable warranty should you want to upgrade to the next-gen and get solid value for the card. PLUS for me personally with my TF3 (should I keep the replacement) I would much rather crossfire 2 MSI reference PCB 7970s than a Diamond + an MSI. Once I get them in a water loop they should be literally identical cards as long as I match the BIOSes.

As for the TF3, I can't write it off completely yet. Of the 3 kinds of 7970s I've owned, the TF3 has been my favorite so far. That said, if the replacement doesn't impress, I just can't recommend it...
