uff thanks bro i was strongly thinking about pulling the trigger!!!

in this case i might just hold for the 770/760 see if prices drop on them.....problem is i dont want a 2gb card but it is what it is ! i dont have to many options atm (on my price range) ...and volcanic islands is coming God knows when!

nvidia seems to keep their prices insanely high even thou the jumps have been around the same % performance wise from 580/680/780 ...the 780 is a 500$ card but the one to blame is AMD for not having anything!

i have a feeling the 760 will be 400$ and the 770 will rock 500$ ...in which case everything i bought a few months ago might be going into Ebay or craiglist and ill wait for the PS4/Xbox one...should hold me for a year or two!

Aside from the 780, the 700 series are refreshed. Not exactly something worth waiting for in my book.

If you are willing to spend a few more bones...

6gb VaporX is $50 off and the best built sapphire card... probably one of the best period next to the lightning and Matrix.

I can't recommend them due to the fact their support is absolutely terrible. Sapphire is probably not much better so I guess I wasted my time posting this.

do you guys suggest me giving a shot to a 7970 twin frozer 3 ??? how was yours??? 1200 core with stock voltage?

im debating between waiting for the 760ti or getting the 7970 since is on special today for 399$

is it quiet? this is a deal breaker

and the fact that with the sapphires i had no audio passthru the DVI to HDMI adapter wich is something i have done and i am doing atm with my gtx 460!

with the 780 pricing i dont expect the 770 and 760ti to be any cheaper than current alternatives

I'd say no to the Twin Frozr 3. Idk if you've been keeping up with my posts in this thread but both the original and replacement couldn't reach 1200. First card maxed out at 1150Mhz needing 1.3v to do so. Not sure if the 2nd card can surpass 1150 but I know it can't do 1200. Both were very loud. Loudest coil whine I've ever heard and the fans were pretty annoying past 70% too.

The general consensus seems to be to go for a pure reference card. Even on air they seem to consistently get past 1200. The MSI true reference card is back in stock and is the same price as the TF3, so I'd go with the full reference card. However, tsm106 says MSI is supposedly using the alternate PCB on the reference-cooler card. I have no idea and this makes me skeptical of buying one. SLK has one still factory sealed, he could always open it up and find out for us tongue.gif

XFX and Sapphire are at the bottom of my list because they are so cheap with their components. Diamond might have terrible support but at least they tend to sell good cards. I don't know what's going on with MSI lately, they used to be one of the best brands.

Anyways... that MSI reference model is back in stock again... and there's literally only 1 in stock. SLK is it yours? Did you send it back to Newegg already? lol

I thought I would chime back in after being MIA from this thread for a while. So I had the MSI TF3 7970, returned it and got 7950 sapphire x2 crossfire to replace it.

After this week with the 2 7950's...i can honestly say im done with AMD at least for this generation. BOTH cards coil whine, BOTH cards fans rattle. Crossfire microstutter makes me want to bang my head onto my desk. Yes, I used radeonpro, yes I disabled UPLS etc etc etc.....

It shocks me how these expensive "high" build quality videocards are so......****ty. I dont know whats going on with AMD but im done investing time and money into the red side for something that might or might not work how I want it to.

Returning the sapphire cards......Gtx 780 here I come
