Intel Xeon E3113 perfectly work on my old MSI G31 M3-L V2, without any problem. Thanks for this site, and good luck for everyone.thumb.gif

Looks like i've sourced some Xeon cpu's for this mod, any recommendations on motherboards?

Also, does anyone OCN members have extra stickers available?

Gave it a try. E5450 on an Intel DP35DP won't even POST with the latest BIOS after trying out this mod. Had to go back to the old E6600. Thought for sure it'd work, since the Q9650 is compatible.

EDIT 2: Never mind on the BIOS mod. Managed to fry my board trying to do a recovery BIOS flash to the previous version. Got it flashed, shut down, unhooked the power, and put the BIOS jumper back on. As soon as I plugged it back in, smoke & fire happened right next to the BIOS jumper.

EDIT: Would a modded BIOS with a microcode update maybe remedy this?? BIOS is here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17930&lang=eng&OSVersion=%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09%09%0A%09%09%09%09%09%09%09&DownloadType=BIOS

I have had the best luck with Gigabyte. Search for ga-ep45 , ga-p45, ga-ep43, ga-ep35, ga-p35, boards. The P43-P45 series all support 1600 fsb cpu's, also three is a varient of both the ep43 and ep45 ending with a T (ga-ep45t) which means its a DDR3 board. Look to google for the suffix (ga-ep45-ds3r) to see exactly which board fills you needs the most. I have also had alot of luck on my recent find a 790i-Ultra motherboard.

So ladies and gents, if anyone here needs a BIOS modded to support Xeons or other 775 CPU's let me know and I can do it.

I'll be back later with some overclocking results biggrin.gif

Hey do you think you can help me out. Me and my friend installed an E5420 in this motherboard. We did the mod correctly, didn't bend any pins and we installed the sticker correctly. Now the thing won't post, we cleared the CMOS and everything. No luck. Is this a BIOS issue?

That motherboard will not support E5420 or any 45 nm CPU. For that board you can go for any 65 nm quad core xeons.

Is there a list of the 65nm 771 xeons that I can use for reference for eBay hunting?
