Well, to be totally honest there were a couple of instances where dual 7970's were actually faster than dual Titans (BF3 and Crysis at 1080p). Otherwise, yeah, its a blood bath...

You'll always going to have anomalies. I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of situations where 580s are faster than 7970s. It doesn't mean the general performance is similar, everything just depends on the situation.

Oh man don try to put the titan as the holy grail of performance ever be..
Seen cheaper alternatives of past gen gpus which were twice as fast as the previous gen...

Lets compare 6970 vs 7970... for a most current example..

6970 to 7970 was a pretty big jump as well...

See this is what I mean. You are overstating the difference between the two (7970 and the 6970) to the extreme. Pretty much the only time we've seen a 100% increase is 8800GTX. It's extremely rare.

At launch a 7970 was 29% faster than a 6970. (less than the difference between Titan and 7970)
Right now a 7970 is 42% faster than a 6970. (same as the difference between 680 and Titan)
And a 7970 GHz is 56% faster than a 6970
