[BSN] The 2013 Nvidia Lineup: GTX780 is Titan LE, GTX770 is GTX680, GTX760Ti is GTX670? - Page 5

Hmm I'm not so sure if LE is the 780. Just read another rumor that Titan ultra will be released at the end of the year, what would they call that?

as if Nvidia is trying to kill the heat surrounding amd's 7990

i wonder how fast is the 790 ?!!
So if the 780 is 30% faster than the 680, is it safe to assume that the 880 will be faster than the Titan but priced "properly"?

But I don't see anything official confirming it. But it makes a lot of sense for the cut down GTX Titan to be the flagship GTX 700 Series card.

I don't see using "Titan LE" or Tesla K20 as the 780 as being unbelievable. I mean assuming they are going to refresh their lineup and they don't have a GK104 with more computational units (would be GK114) they're going to need something more powerful to beat the 7970GHz.

What I don't see happening is $499, I think it's going to be much closer to the $599 mark. You have to remember that the amount of cuda cores in GK110 is not as important as ROPs and the bus for gaming purposes. 320bit bus and less rops for the card that's presumable going to be the 780 would actually cause quite the gap between it and the Titan. It's not the 680 <-> 670 situation where they just killed some cuda cores. If I had to guess I'd say the Titan will still be around 15% (at least) faster with those changes. They also have the option of disabling yet another SMX if they want.

Otherwise highly clocked GK104s make sense I guess. At least it's cheap.

Maxwell is technically expected to reach new grounds performance wise from what i understand. Of course i never read into technical specifications so i couldn't begin to tell you why but according to sites and Nvidia it's going to be monstrous and the card worth waiting for if your into the whole waiting game thing. Think GTX 7000 flagship to 8800ultra or that's the hype it seems to be creating this early in the game.

Agreed, but does mid may not seem extremely early? I thought we were looking at later. Though i guess if your Nvidia (or AMD for that matter) and your current gen has been out a full year your eager to get something to the market to get a head start.

Agreed if it is true it's great news, i'll take 30% over a 680 for 599$, hell for all we know Sea Islands could be better. Honestly AMD seems to have been "hush, hush" with it.

Maxwell will have unified virtual memory but other than that we know very little about it.

We don't know when it's coming. We don't know what sort of chips Nvidia will bring out. We don't know if they will have yield problems (NV was not satisfied with the TSMC 20nm node a while back). And so on. Way too early to say. However as everyone knows a process shrink and a new architecture means big performance increases but also some difficulties.

E: and as for your second point, if anything this is late for a refresh. 20nm will be rolling out most likely in H1 2014, they need to get something out now if they even want a refresh.

If this info is legit it will do something to restore my faith in Nvidia. If the GTX 780 really does have 5GB and all them cores priced where the GTX 680 was then yeah that's good value tbh. We've been here before with rumors though and ended up with Nvidia burning us with prices. I will remain cautiously optimistic (:

I would agree then i remember how embarrassing the HD6970 was. I mean when the 6870 and 6850 came out they were awesome performance bumps from the HD5770 and everyone was hyped about what a beast the 6970 would be especially considering than AMD chose to call them the 6900 series instead of the 6800 series. Then it came out being only afew clicks ahead of the 5870 which was sad. This generation was better as the 7970 and 680 were significant bumps ahead of the last gen parts and we have seen very aggressive driver optimizations and gaming bundles come from both camps. If you're talking about the Titan generation then yes, very disappointing... the 780 and 8970 better live up to the Hype because now people have the option of buying new consoles and if AMD and Nvidia want to keep people in the PC market (i'm especially talking about the non enthusiast crowd) then they need to step up the GPU horsepower without the price hike. You don't keep people in the PC market by releasing $1000 single GPUs. imo.

i don't think that will fly with most people lol. Unless they can get them running at 1500Mhz stock or something then OC another 200Mhz more or something....
