[BSN] The 2013 Nvidia Lineup: GTX780 is Titan LE, GTX770 is GTX680, GTX760Ti is GTX670? - Page 8

If the GTX 780 is released in May with a $599 price tag and is within 10-15% of a Titan, I'm going to feel kind of silly for dropping $1000 + tax on a Titan. Especially if MSI releases a 780 Lightning.... mad.gif

How disappointing it will be now if GTX 780 is in fact 1920 shaders like previous leaks said, Tech Power up have it like this,

GTX 780:

Transistors: 3,540 million
Shading Units: 1920
3,072.00 GFLOPS
Memory Size: 3072 MB

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/1701/NVIDIA_GeForce_GTX_780.html

This leak is a little to close to the new HD 7990 launch for me to take seriously yet, remain optimistic though.

GK110 based 5GB GPU for GTX 780 sounds awesome, let's hope it's not just fud..

I'd actually prefer a 384bit 1920 cuda core 780 instead of an extremely cut down GK110. The thing is that a GPU like that would easily clock higher than a really leaky failed GK110 and with a bigger bus and more rops it wouldn't have the problems that GK104 has...

Sure it wouldn't have the compute capability of Titan but the die size would be radically smaller.

It's all Kepler, the same architecture..

I.e GK104 is just a derivative of GK110.. GK110 being the name for a part harvested with more cores..with 5GB and 2496 shaders would perform much better than a 1920 Shader part. Hopefully this is legit info and not just a timed 'leak' to coincide with AMD's HD 7990 launch..

I would grab a reasonably priced ($499 - $599) GTX 780 is spec is legit, make it so Nvidia !!

As I said before it's not just about the amount of cuda cores.

1920 cores with a 384bit bus a nearly Titan level ROPs and without all the compute features (double precision cores) found in the Titan would be a really lucrative GPU because on top of having a bunch of computational units it would also clock really high. Especially since we're so late in the life cycle of the 28nm process.

If a chip like that would be made with the amount of ROPs and the 384bit bus the K20 has the GK110 part would only have 30% more cuda cores. With the mature process you could match the GK110 part by just pure clock speed (wont even need the 30% more).

As for the memory, 5GB is useless for 99% of the enthusiast market so it's not like it makes any difference at the moment.
