BIOS Settings (P5W DH Deluxe + Core 2 Extreme)???

Thread Starter
Hello, I'm new to the forum, and I just built a new pc.

I'm curious to what bios settings I should use to run my computer the best? Anyone have the same setup that can give me a set of parameters? or is there an application I can run to find the best settings?

They've got overclocking profiles in the bios, but using those, I can only get it to 2.0Ghz (2/3 it's actual power). So, I'm not looking to overclock (at least, now), I'd like to just hit it's specified speed of 2.93GHz

My Setup:
Motherboard: P5W DH Deluxe
Processor: Core 2 Extreme
Video Cards: CrossFire X1950 with X1950XTX
Memory: OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel

I appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Welcome to oc.net. There are people here that can really help you with that more than I can...However Welcome.

i don't think you really have to worry about anything if you are not going to overclock. It's running at 2ghz probably because C1E is turned on to conserve power, you'll get the 2.93ghz when you actually put the processor under load.

Boy do I feel sheepish I found where to change the clock ratio (i must be blind). I bumped it up from 6 to 11. It's running at 2.93 GHz now

As far as overclocking it, should I just slightly increase the cpu frequency and put it under some stress tests for stability? (prime95, etc)

Thanks for the welcome and advice

I recommend running it stock for a while and take some time to learn the mb a little better. It will be hella fast at stock speeds. After learning a few things about the system...then start to play with overclocking it a bit if you like.

A CPU like that can OC pretty far on stock volts. Try increasing the FSB a little... or a lot and see how far you can go on stock voltage.

And instead of prime, use Orthos.

you have a kick arse setup there. you spent top dollar on it, you might as well overclock to get your money's worth, i know i did

you should be able to get a good 1ghz oc if you have adequate cooling.

but since you have a setup of that caliber, i suspect your cooling to be sufficient

run some benchies on stock, and overclock away my friend.

Maybe just push Vcore directly to 1.45 then start from there. You should be able to get a lot.
