Hi all
This is my first attempt at overclocking my new setup which comprises of:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
Asus P5B Deluxe
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-6400C4 TwinX
Leadtek GeForce 7950 GT EXTREME 512MB GDDR3
Zalman CNPS9700-LED Aero Flower
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music
Akasa Ultra Quiet 650W Power

i just wanted some feedback really from people with experience, just to comment on any suggestions about the way ive gona about this, would like to see a bit more out of it soon
here is a link to my cpu-z dump
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=145758
thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions
By the way temps seem great , 31 degrees idle and 40 degrees at a heavy load

Welcome to the useless but addictive world of overclocking :-) That's my first stop at OC'ing the 6600 as well. Too bad I learned too late that those particular Corsairs have inferior chips that don't overclock, unless you see a v1.x on them instead of 2.x.

The mobo is held in high esteem for overclocking, though.

Good luck!

Nice OC. I actually OC'd for the first time yesterday too, and have mine at 3.2ghz as well, except my multiplier is x9 w/ corresponding FSB. I'm held back by my valueselect DDR2-667s.

By the way, what are your voltages and temp readings?
I'm on a zalman 9500-AT with 1.45 CPU, 1.5 FSB, and 1.8 RAM (soon to be 1.9 for stability)

since the FSB is 1066Mhz...Does that mean its really 533Mhz 1/2 and the attended goal is to get that number up to 800Mhz ..so its 1:1 with DDR2 800 RAM? Is that how is works..Im new as well.

3.2GHz was also my first stop. Unfortunately, I can't go much farther and still be stable until my replacement sticks from Corsair (traded in the inferior Promios 6400C4D's for Micron 8500C5's as a part of an exchange program by Corsair) arrive.

Good work GM0N3Y79!

Xorlev, what is this exchange program you speak of?

Welcome to the forum.

You're right at the point where your OC gets interesting. You're probably gonna need a pretty big increase in vcore to hit the 3.4-3.6GHz range. Prepare for your temps to go up as well. Good luck with your OC, you got a real nice setup.

THANKS FOR ALL THE QUICK REPLYS
yea it seems pushing past 3.2 isnt as easy as i hoped, but hopefully i will gather enough info as to how to acomplish this

About the RAM comment: yep, knock it down to DDR2 533 speeds in the BIOS, and then start increasing your FSB (or CPU frequency, which is listed at 266MHz.) The DDR2 533 speed is 1:1 with the CPU.

Then, increase your FSB ... I'd start out at around 333MHz or so (CPU = 3.0GHz), and go from there in small steps (10 MHZ at the time or so). That CPU should easily hit 3.4GHz. I can get 3.5GHz on mine, but that requires quite some voltage (1.5V vcore), and it's running quite hot. ... but I have a bad week

Once you notice you're unstable, it's likely time to increase your CPU voltage (vcore) just a bit... BE CAREFUL with this, and do keep an eye on the temperatuires. You definately want to stay below 60C with that CPU.

Try 1.5375v on the CPU and 410~430x8 with around 2.1v on the RAM (1:1) and 1.65v on the NB. That should get you over 3.4.
