Ok, so your real into this "moar wattage" thing.

Lets break it down using Antec Basiq as an example.

First off, ALL of your high powered components run on the 12v rail(s) now. so ignore the others. Second, Amps X Volts = watts

500W Antec Basiq +3.3V@30A, +5V@30A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@18A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@2.5A so best case scenario (which is never the case) (18+18)=36X12=420

XFX ProSeries P1-450S +3.3V@20A, +5V@20A, +12V@34A, -12V@0.5A, +5VSB@2.5A SO 34X12= 408 not to mention:

Wattage and heat go hand-in-hand. Other PSUs claim a certain wattage by using unrealistic testing environments like 25°C, but in real settings, they might reach much lower wattages. XFX PSUs guarantee the advertised wattage, even at well above standard operating conditions at 50°C. and Internal PC operating temperature is around 35°C but the internal PSU temperature can be much higher. XFX uses all high-quality Japanese brand capacitors rated to withstand up to 105°C. While some competitors claim to use Japanese capacitors, they may only be rated for 85°C, which can shorten the usable life of a PSU.

So factor in heat and ...uneven load and the ProSeries is going to be far better, and supply more power.

its $72 with shipping vs $50 AMIR. $22 more is a good chunk of his budget

Is it better? Sure thing. Is it worth the difference between 4 and 8gb ram or 4 and 6 cores? Thats up to the OP.

Well LuckySe7ens was explaining something about the PSU voltages above and their capacity, and he said 18A + 18A on the +12V rail is 36A which is 432W (because the amps are multiplied by the voltage which is 12 for the +12V rail). However, it doesn't work that way. Unfortunately, Antec doesn't tell us what the +12V capacity is of the 500W Antec Basiq! I wish they did.

Anyway, I was just making fun of him just because I'm weird. :)
