The key is a decent sanding on the primer at both 400 and 800 grit sandpaper followed by both 800 and 1500 grit on the finish coat...
Thanks for the info sir! Two more quick questions: what is the bracket made out of? Aluminum? And how thick is it?

EDIT: never mind, I must have missed a post, so I read back a few pages and saw you used 16 gauge steel.

biggrin.gif Thanks socketus...I wound up deciding that I'm not going to paint the Himuros. I think it would be a little too much red, so I've got a different idea to dress up the Himuro a little bit.
That's actually a really great idea dman! Unfortunately, I decided against painting the Himuro and am going to go in a slightly different direction with it. I think it will turn out really well though. thumb.gif

Himuro Bracket and dual fan cables

I promised some photos of how the bracket is attached...along with the completed photos of it.

It uses the stock bracket's mounting posts and is basically just an L bracket with adjustable screw holes on the back side for the Himuro...

The Himuro is held in place with 4 screws...

The idea was to keep the mounting as hidden as possible. I think this will work out.

Primered...

Painted and mounted to the Himuro...

Installed...

Next up was to make some dual fan cables...

Components...

Male side completed...

2 fan cables for 4 fans!

Next up is to flush the rads that have been sitting for a while in the shop, a bit of sleeving, and then the final assembly! As always, comments, critiques, suggestions are always welcome! thumb.gif
Like a glove! Looks good!

Like a glove

I was on the fence about those enclosures...couldn't see how they were going to be used in the case. But now that they're actually in there, looks perfect and fits very well.

Thanks guys..sorry the updates have been trickling in...I've been working on a major systems upgrade and office remodel at work...Just about have the office done and the new system goes live tomorrow (which means it will probably be a long day for me redface.gif )

In the meantime, I've been working on the cabling pretty heavily...

Cables that I am currently making:
  • 2 custom SATA power cables
  • 3 SATA data cables (just shortening them to fit perfectly)
  • 2 dual fan cables (I wasn't happy with the first 2 I made)
  • AQ5 fat 4-pin cable
  • AQ5 USB cable (I wasn't happy with the first one)
  • Exhaust fan cable

after that, I have to sleeve those and 2 temp sensor wires...

The system will be ready to go into final assembly and then I can concentrate on the little bit of lighting effects there will be. thumb.gif

Hope you have better luck with the custom cables than I did... But I am not worried about this as I know I will get the hang of it just need to practice practice!!!

I sleeved my Bitspower temp sensor in paracord the other day... wasn't too difficult, and I left it full length, since I think I'm going to snake it around the case, hiding it behind things!

Glad to see progress in someone's S3 build! rolleyes.gif

Thanks - T

No photos tonight..but I got the both SATA power cables and the AQ5 fat 4 pin cable made along with sleeving the 2 remaining temp sensors, 1 of the SATA power cables, and the AQ5 fat 4 pin cable sleeved...however, after doing it, I realized I'm going to need an additional fat 4 pin cable for the lighting and I am out of room on my PSU, so I'm going to have to make a double fat 4 pin cable or come up with a different solution...doh.gif
