newb OC'er needs recommendations

I would like to know what you would buy if you wanted the absolute best bang for the buck OC'ing system.I need a CPU,MoBo,RAM,and air cooling, and PSU.I have been looking at the Asus P5B-Deluxe and the Gigabyte DS3 and the lower end Intel Core2Duos.I would like to keep this within reason as I have another baby on the way.My budget is somewhat flexible but would like to keep it around $1000.00 for the parts I need above. Thanks!

So the E6400 wouldnt be better for the extra $40 ? Also,I thought I read that the p5b-deluxe was better than the wi-fi version for OC'ing? Any thoughts of what kind of speeds I could reach if i do my homework and get this setup?Obviously I know Im not going to get as high as if I were to watercool it but just curious what others have been able to do in similar setups as this. Thanks

There is 2 versions of the P5B-Deluxe, the WIFI, and regular. If there is any difference, it's probably not even noticeable. I'd save the extra few bucks, and just get the reuglar, unless your planning on using the WIFI feature.

I would take the E6400 for the higher multi, so yes that's probably worth the extra 40 bucks. For the remaining few bucks left, I would put it twards a better Heatsink/Fan. A TT BT would be a big improvement over the AC7. Lastly, I would purchase the PCP&C Silencer 750w over the Silverstone due to a single rail.

With an E6400 and the P5B-Deluxe, 3.4GHz is definitly possible, mabye 3.6 depending on temps and CPU stepping.
