CPU only using 1 core in 3dmark11 & 3dmark, any solutions?

Hi Guys,

hope someone can possibly help, I ve just recently purchased a 3rd 7950 (cheap from a friend who was fed up with stuttering). The only thing is I can not realise exactly how much additional power I ve actually bought.

all games (bf3, borderlands 2, kerbal space program thumb.gif) including heaven & Valley work absolutely fine cpu cores are fully utilised (i5 3570K@4.5Ghz)

However, the issue has just started since installing the last card that on 3dmark11 and 3dmark firestrike only my core 0 is at 100% and the other cores are barely over 40%, I m used to seeing all at 100%.

you can imagine the low score I get due to the cpu only using 1 core on the combined test.

I realise my board is not a tri-fire x 16 board, however it doesnt explain why everyhting else is all good and gets a performance boost, and 3dmark doesnt use all my CPU.

I have both 3dmarks installed via steam, and I know that the faqs in 3dmark say they havent yet fully supported over 2 gpus, but there ARE scores with 3 x 7950!

can anybody offer any suggestions? Or is it software related any i need to wait for something to happen?

Thanks for your input!

Use the power wisely tongue.gif aww hell just go all out! devil.gif

I gad a similar problem with my new GPU(s) and it turned out that a windows update was the culprit. Might want to try and uninstall it: KB2670838

no worries, if automatic updates are active on your system you'll have that patch back on in a day or two.

Good luck! thumb.gif

and treat my card nice!

Hey dude,

thanks for the tip but no joy i'm afraid, still 100% on core 0, 72% on core 1, 70% on core 2, and 68% on core 3, gave me .5 fps more in combined. And Windows is just going to reinstall that update when i shut down, but I appreciate the help!
