Hmmm... Wonder what the price will be. Better be cheap with 1 core and 800 fsb. The best part is is it is still better than x2 3800+

So is this the single core version of the allendale? If so, shouldn't they call it the core2solo? I thought the "duo" in core2duo meant dual core.

The E4300 is still dual core! The Core 2 Solo (E2xxx) are the single core ones

the E4300 is an 800MHz FSB version of the E6300. Multi of x9, so it'll run a hair slower than the E6300. The benchies are in line with the difference in clock speed.

I'd guess this CPU would be lower priced than the E6300... probably similar to the X2 3800+ (around $150)

So this is essentially a tuned down version of the E6300? Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a few months and not sure what chips are coming out.

edit: nevermind, saw your response.

If it will be significantly cheaper than the E6300, I definately see a point for this CPU.

And maybe, just maybe, it'll run on older LGA775 boards with the FSB of 200MHz (just speculating here). It might be a really good cheap upgrade.

I mean... a CPU that whoops the X2 3800 for likely arond the same price? nothing pointless about that.

And the single cores are probably even cheaper.. ideal for low-budget office machines.
