[Kotaku] Nintendo Won't Be Having A Big E3 Press Conference This Year - Page 4

I can respect the fact that Nintendo has done things differently than major consoles for over a decade now, but that can only work for so long.

Honestly, I think they're skipping E3 this year because they simply have nothing to show. Have you seen the upcoming Wii U releases? They are absolutely abysmal. I'd even go as far as to say there is nothing coming out for 6 months, and call me a skeptic, but no one wants to go to a gigantic Nintendo conference and see previews of 3DS games on a movie theater screen.

Nintendo has been competing with (and chasing away) their own 3rd party developers for so long that they're finally paying the price for it (methinks). Personally I couldn't possibly care any less about another Mario Party, Mario Kart, Mario platformer, classic Mario Brothers, Paper Mario, WarioWare, etc etc etc etc.

Nintendo has always had amazing first party games, but when does it get to the point where everything they could possibly do has been done better, in the past, on worse consoles? I mean, it's almost gotten to the point where what they continue to beat could only be classified as a horse if you examined its dental records.

This is coming from someone who STILL owns every major Nintendo system (including handhelds).

Agree with some part of it - however... I do honestly believe they do have GAMES to show. Whether it be done by Retro studios or another I know they will want to take some thunder away from Sony and MS. Expect a big title release to promote the system. As of right now, the games for Wii U are... meh. Typical for a system launch in general unfortunately these days. However, now that they've got a feel for the market of this system I expect them to drop the megaton with some big games. A new metroid to show off the hardware would be wise. Sure it's not going to be ps4 level, but if you think graphically the Wii U is that laughable you will be in for a surprise, it's still got plenty of gpu horsepower and with the right develepor (such as retro) they can make a game look excellent graphically and still deliver on gameplay.

I really hope they do bring out something huge. I love Nintendo (some of my greatest video-game-related memories had to do with Nintendo), but they need to do something quick to reverse the absolutely appalling Wii U sales numbers they've been pulling in.

For 3 straight months now, the Wii U has sold worse than the Wii, PS3, or 360 have EVER sold. According to the latest reports I've read, anyway.

Yea and the fact the graphics are hardly better than PS3/Xbox 360..What fool is going to fall for this twice? (wii being compared to xbox, wiiu being compared to xbox360)

Because graphics aren't everything? Art style my friend. Nintendo games on a system with more power then ps3/360 will make for some great looking games regardless of horsepower being 'less' then systems that aren't even out yet.

Nintendo is kicking ass. They don't give a crap what ms and sony do at all. They are not even trying to compete with them. from what I see they, they are rocking it, they already have been making money on their current get console and the so called competitors are STILL milking their almost 10 year old machines.

Nintendo is the most successful video game company to date.

Honestly, I love Nintendo, and love their first party games. I mean who can honestly say Ocarina of Time isn't one of the best games evar??? I could play a new zelda all day long, with no motion control, bleh.

Despite this, I find it sad that their most impressive lineup is on a handheld. Why not bring the same games or similar to consoles. I might be interested in a Nintendo console again if they would do this. I don't really mind the lower hardware specs of WiiU as I have no intent of buying a MS or Sony console (already have a pretty stout gaming rig, no need to buy another "computer"). Also, ditch the gimicky control schemes.

I get tired of this... GAMEPLAY over graphics people!!, GAMEPLAY rolleyes.gif. I don't understand how can someone say that Nintendo just keeps milking their franchises when Microsoft and Sony and every single other developer on Earth does the exact same thing, is Nintendo not entitled to do the same?, gotta love fanboys wth.gif. This E3 thing... i was actually looking forward to it, all the big 3... more info on the PS4, Xbox 720 stuff, tons of new games and Nintendo will do what? poke.gif, they better show some BIG games atleast.

This E3 thing... i was actually looking forward to it, all the big 3... more info on the PS4, Xbox 720 stuff, tons of new games and Nintendo will do what? poke.gif, they better show some BIG games atleast.

1.) Gameplay > Graphics... until you get no 3rd party support
2.) Sony changes out their franchises every gen, the only one they don't is Gran Turismo
