Normal Intel i5 3350p temperature

Hello, what's the normal temperature of Intel i5 3350p CPU when idle and when playing? I'm using stock cooler. And do I need to aplly thermal paste on this CPU? Other says that I don't need to, because it's already on stock cooler. Now I get 75 C while playing BF3 (that;s too high), so should I clean the old paste and put new? Thanks.

75*C with the stock cooler under load is normal enough, I wouldn't worry about that at all.

But the thing is, that I played for about an hour and then the temperature started to raise even to 80 C, so I turned of BF3. But why my friend has a lot lower temperature? Does mother board has any effect on CPU temp?

The only things that affect a CPU's temperature are its loading and the efficiency of its heatsink/fan combination.

Note that the TJmax limit for Ivy Bridge chips is 105*C, and for the stock cooler a 100% load usually gets into the 80s.

If you are still concerned about the temps, you could always get an inexpensive aftermarket HSF like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus ($20 after $10 MIR @ Newegg). Aftermarket HSFs often don't come with thermal paste, so don't forget to order some with it if not already included.
