That game drool.gif already got my Digital Mercenary, just waiting on the alpha, that game will be the perfect Space Sim, unless EvE does something about it.

Eve will never make the switch to full movement and control of the their ships. It's a cool little gimmick in the wake of SC hype, and the timing perfectly collides with SC releasing footage.

It'd be awesome if eve did, but then they would take away one of the defining game mechanics that people have enjoyed for many many years. I think eve is perfectly fine as it is, I've played it off and on since around 06. But SC is what I'm really excited for. Good showing for eve though, proving they "can" make this.

looks interesting, I keep thinking a nearly immersive VR that spanned space etc would have been awesome. I geuss the stargate universe trailers were all fluff, that could have been another great game with huge world play dynamics and loads of storylines

It was sufficiently 3Dish, for example sitting in the launch tubes it did feel like the exit was way out there in front of you, but it wasn't the amazing part. The amazing part was being able to look around. When your cockpit alarm goes off and you have to look around frantically (including behind you!) to try and spot the incoming missiles so that you can take evasive action, that was amazing. When a hostile is flying towards you and passes overhead, having to look straight up to track him and pitch your ship up an around so that it feels like you're falling over backwards to keep missile lock, that was amazing.

I have a nerve problem that goes from the tips of my fingers on my right rand, to the base of my skull. I don't want to have to look around frantically. In fact, turning my neck quickly to look at a clock at work made me take the day off cause it "clicked" into the right spot and sent a crazy pain down my nerve that almost made me pass out.

So... If Rift does take off, and everyone has one... I'll be left behind frown.gif

Thankfully, I don't see it replacing my KB and mouse, which is about as much as I can do without too much pain. Need an ergo workstation mad.gif

To crazy Rift fans. It's a personal joke about the comment I'm quoting. Not hating on the Rift. Clarified.
