[Gamespot] 2K Skipping this year's E3 - Page 3

What the hell does he have to do with 2k games? He is CEO of gearbox, which is a completely different company. 2k did publish borderlands and borderlands 2 - both of which were good games. Most GBX games, however, have gone to Sega.

Still, the point remains - I have no idea why you're bringing him up. He's involved with a different company. I think 2k games' track record speaks for itself - they're one of my favorite publishers to be honest.

Because for the past four E3's, it's pretty much been the Randy/Gearbox show when it comes to 2K's presence at E3. Borderlands in 2009, Duke in 2011, and Borderlands 2 in 2012. Last year at least had Jake Solomon and XCOM, but past those two I can't name a single person from 2K or their development partners (besides Levine, but his titles tend to come out 2 months ahead of E3, not 2-4 months after, so less immediacy at E3).

So for me, and I imagine a few others, Randy is practically the public face of 2K at E3 even though he is head of Gearbox, and merely published by 2K.

And seeing how there is no big Gearbox, Firaxis, or Irrational title set to release in the next year, it kind of makes sense that 2K is skipping. Sure, GTA V is coming in the fall, but it has always avoided E3 anyway.

I have to agree. Mafia 2 was awful... So very, very awful.
Granted, it had a lot to live up to after the original. Which will go down as one of the greatest video games of all time.
