4.5ghz 2500k fail with bios screenshots - Page 3

If the CPU is not stable because of Vcore, you can get different BSODS when you are messing with other settings/voltages.

Just lower the MHZ of the CPU, and see if it will be stable now.. Then you know it was just vcore.

Ok Guess I have been kinda busy as of late but I did get back to testing some stuff the last couple of days. So I really think I have a chip that cant do over 4.4GHz or my motherboard is holding me back. I have 4.4 12 hours stable at 1.3 volts maybe able to go lower not sure as I started there just to see what happened. Now why would I be 100% stable at 4.4 at 1.28-1.29 but can go all the way to 1.4 for 4.5ghz and not be stable. I do get more unstable voltage after 1.3 volts on this bored like it jumps around so much after that point that I'm really thinking it maybe the board is just not supplying enough constant volts like there is spikes. I have tried every point of LLC and all to fix this it just jumps around I can be at 1.35 in bios and under load go down to 1.32 and up to 1.36 in a 15 second time frame. Now I'm thinking these low spikes are killing me and I think maybe why my chip is failing as the board is just not supplying enough power.

Anyone else think this could really be the deal or is this normal for volts to move around that much. I did read around a little and some people have posted a problem like this on this board on other sites. One guy even RMAed his board for this problem and got a way better one that did not have this problem now RMA is not a option but buying a new board from a better brand with better phases is. I'm just not sure if its worth it with haswell coming but I really like the temps of my 2500k and if haswell is like ivy bridge and temps really suck I am not sure I want to switch as the little boost in performance for the temp increase is not worth it in my mind.

Take some current screen shots of your bios and post them here. I doubt your motherboard is holding you back

To be truthful there is no reason to post bios everything is auto that's the stupid part I passed 12 and a a half hours of prime with a 44X. That puts my CPUZ volts at 1.296 under load everything else is auto if I go to 4.5GHz nothing works at all. I can make a fixed volts of all the way up to 1.4 volts and prime fails. You also have to understand from day one I had weird problems with this board and did not RMA it like I should have.

Your settings are probably what are holding you back. You you dont want to overclock on auto so thats not helping at all

If you look back at the bios pictures I posted before you would see I did not overclock with everything on auto I got mad and just set it to 44x last night just to see what happened and everything passed. I have been fighting with this 4.5 overclock for months. I just wanted to see what happened at 4.4 and sure enough it passes at way lower volts then I ever tired at 4.5. I have tried everything with LLC PLL you name it will not get stable but for some stupid reason 4.4 with everything on auto is stable don't get it.

I know you don't leave everything on auto it was just test to show I don't understand why 4.4 with everything auto is stable but everything I do for 4.5 is unstable this cant be the chips wall at only 1.3 volts I should be able to go more.

might be.

my 2600k required 1.380v to be stable with 3/5 LLC

Have you tried just skipping that clock and trying 4.6 out?

Also at 4.4 I would possibly try setting your PLL voltage lower (1.4) and start working your way up with that till you're stable again, and if its lower maybe able to clock at a lower voltage!

I have z77 pro3 and i have this same problem with 4.8Ghz, i cant go from 4.7Ghz to 4.8Ghz because i get bsods even if i add voltage ? Going to fix that after seating my new cooler tomorrow.
