Didn't see that till brutuz replied. It wasn't the CPU holding them back per-se, it was more the poly counts for the graphics. MAG was 128 players but it didn't have destruction for the environment. I would sacrifice that for a 128 player team. =)

those "analysts" should be counting component parts for PC, i get the feeling that there's more PCs then ever in custom-built rigs than off-the-shelf pre-builts. Analysts are looking at the wrong picture.

Generally speaking HT, isn't as good as a physical core.

From here I tell you that no, I am not one of those OCD bastards needing 120FPS minimum at max settings and 32xAA wtih 4x Supersampling to enjoy my games. I do enough with 40FPS for almost absolute smoothness, and I tune the settings so my average framerate sits around there, with the highest quality I can achieve.

I dont' know about that. The PS3 was a weird weird weeeeird animal.


Sony's original plan was to use the Cell processor for both the CPU & GPU. They only realized late in the game that their expectations were too high & that the competition would be far ahead if they didn't re-adjust their design. Only then did they add the GPU, at the very end of the product development cycle.



This also contributed to the awkward synergy that caused developers major headaches.



This is why they took the safe route this time around. Thankfully.
