I responded,
NO sht he's using liquid nitrogen not air, HELLO?
Then I got banned
LOL, owning a 8800 these days make our e-penises as large as those who own exotic cars.

I can't believe that he said he couldn't prove it, unless he's missing the print/screen key somehow. It's a nice thing to have a OC record thread so that people can prove and claim at the same time. Most people who claim first usually would never provide proof.

And USFORCES, wait 'til I get my Tide Water on it so I can beat you on the core.

Damn that's a lotta stick-out-tongue smileys.

Either way folks, do not expect your card to clock up too 800 on the core on stock cooling.
Lol, yes, I did infact mean 600 mhz on the core. I'm not running a high overclock and the intention of my post was simply to tell others that the stock cooler is much better than I anticipated. It runs much quieter than I expected as well.

Warning on Overclocking the GTS,
Over on another forum, two 8800GTS that have went out due to overclocking 1 eVGA and 1 PNY.
And it sounds like 1 eVGA on this forum now also, it don't sound like a temp issue so far they all have said there temps never went much over 70c.
From what they are saying the memory can't handle it.

Thanks for the heads up. I had mine running at 660 and 2000. But I thought that this was way to high of an overclock and that it might hurt the card. It's now running 24/7 at 620 and 1900. I am glad that I wasn't running it at 660 anymore

It still might be too high I'm not sure, I wouldn't leave it set 24/7 any higher than 600/1800

575/1800 is what the newer OCed GTS that are comming out are set at.
630/2000 is what the newer OCed GTX that are comming out are set at.

This guy had his GTS set at 615/1950,
Quote:
I already burned up the memory on my first eVGA GTS and I know of one other guy on Guru that has done the same.

I had mine OCed @ 615/1950 my idle temp was 54C and my load temp never exceeded 68C. Everything was perfect for a few weeks and then one morning I noticed every game I tried to play was getting really bad artifects. So bad that you couldn't read the screen.

I backed back down to my stock clocks and the problem did not correct itself.
I had to RMA the card. This is exactly the same way it happened to another guy on the fourms.

Unlike other cards that I have owned, the GTS will not tell you it OCed too much by showing minor artifects so watch out for that. If you see artifects it's usually too late.

Count me in that GTX list !

I am using 97.92 drivers BTW, if you wanna update that first post :]

OC-wise, I'm not going to boost my GTX while the rest of my system is not fully stable :/

It would be nice to see some benchmarks on systems with GTX (or GTS for that matter). It seems like not many people are filling out the bench scores in their profiles.

Just for the record, I'm at:

CPU OC'd to 3.2 Ghz (upped multi one notch)

RAM timings tightened to 4-4-4-12 1T

GPU overclocked to 610/935
