EVGA 8800 320 GTS here.

Just for laughs I let the nVidia performance control panel find the optimal setting, and it was put at Core 513/Mem 792 figured that was good enough for now. Will play with it more later.

please allow me to introduce myself!

Ok, so i not got me one of the 'big white ones!'

I just recently upgraded and got me:

Sharkoon Rebel 9
Dark Power Pro 530W PSU
Foxconn 8800GTX
Zalmann 9500
Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe Wifi Mb
AMD 64 x2 5200+
2GB DDR2 800

The qeustion is - why do i occassionally get a core idle temp of 54 Degress and a full load that's gone to 81? Is there a normal operatiing temp, i know they are hot but there's so many conflicting stories out there.

Has anyone got the low down on how far it will go before it 'pops'???

First off, its customary to atleast afew hours before bumping yourself. Secondly, no, I would not trust that PSU to such a nice card. The PSU is perhaps the most important piece in a system, as a cheap one can really cause you headaches (and in extreme cases, alot of money).

yeah, its just that i have an old one of those layin around...
ill look for something better..
sorry about the preemptive bump
what would be a good wattage for the setup of...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130082
and a C2D e6600
2 gigs o ram
a SATA 160 gig HDD
2 disc drives
and thats about it
what would be a sufficient wattage?

I belive 500w + should be plenty for that and a few upgrades, it is sort of the norm but the truly important aspect of a PSU is the quality of the power signal so you can get a better OC even if your components are finiky.
Now if you really want to know how much wattage you need you'll have to look at the component's manufacturer's sites and look at how much they need and add it up, but look at amps too. (BTW, I don't know much about electricity so look for a second opinion for sure)

So I guess the GTS 320MB just dropped in price a bit... I wonder if I should Step-up my single GTS to a GTX or get a second one... see the problem is that I need three DVI outs for three monitors and currently have a 7600GT as my second card which is brand new and costed me $100 when I ordered it like a month or more ago...
I peeled off the sticker and mailed the one on the box to the rebate department so I can't return it or step it up... so I might have to get rid of it if I want to get a second 8800...

So what should I do? sell the 7600GT and invest in a second 320MB or step-up my current 320MB to a GTX and let this 7600GT depreciate to crap till GTXs are so cheap that buying a second one is worth getting only a portion of it's power when you SLI...
