Man,that is an insane amount of AS5,I have never seen anyone use so much.
Also what is the point of putting it on top of the thermal pads?
Surely all this is doing is helping to keep heat in?
And one more thing, you do realise that AS5 is slightly conductive,on the small chip to the right of the core with capacitors around it(sorry dont know what it is called)if that AS5 bridges those gaps it could cause something to short out.

Granted right now I have EVGA techies working on it and even they have no clue whats going on. Granted yes I'm running Vista ultimate I really shouldn't be taking a huge performance hit like this. I'm ran 3dMark06 and I can't even hit 12000 with 2 sli 8800GTX's. My memory timing is 5-5-5-15 T2. I'm a noob at OCing so I have no idea what I can really kick this up to. Plus I'm getting water cooling by the end of the week for the GPU's and CPU. Yes all drivers are the latest and SLI is enabled. I've even completely uninstalled, restarted and reinstalled all drivers and still nadda. Any8 help would be greatly appreciated.

Just bought an Evga 8800 GTS 320MB....

Should I be using 158.22 drivers here http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_158.22.html or the 97.94 ones mentioned at the beginning of this thread?

I've read a bunch of threads and can't find an even semi-definitive to this...

What's a good max temp? I'm runing ATI Tool to find the Max Core right now, and I'm hovering around 83C... I'll admit I'm a bit scared

Adding another silly question: I've been reading the 8800 OC thread, and is it just me or do the GTS 640MB run cooler than the 320MB? Damn, one day later and I could have bought the 640 for only $20 more *sniff*

ok - add me to the list so long, my 8800GTS is coming tomorrow...

btw - can somebody please re-assure me that this was a good buy? i mean, how much better is the 640mb version of the 8800GTS as opposed to the 320MB?

starting to doubt now...

As it stands at the moment (DX9.0c) applications the 640MB Vs 320MB the differences can only be seen when the display resolution is greater than 1280x1024.

The additional memory helps with shader buffering, which becomes a bigger issue at higher resolutions
