Frustrated here with an evga 8800gtx ko acs3 (626/1458/2000 stock). Put a Danger Den 8800gtx cooler on it, runs max of 65ºC load temps tied into my e6600 (soon to be replaced with g0 q6600) and I cannot for the life of me get this thing to do ANYTHING as far as memory or shader. Running 640 core, but anything above 1460 shader, massive artifacting, same with memory, anything over like 2010, goes to hell. Power issue possibly? I know my 700w psu is a pos. Opinions?

I have a BFG 8800 GTX. My main question is: Is it worth it to replace the stock cooling solution of this vid card? Is there something better? Has anyone here taken out the massive fan and added some thermal paste to this? I don't plan to overclock my video card, but I wouldn't mind keeping it cool while I play high graphic games.

It is still generally going to get hot when under load (75-80ºC range) no matter what you do with the stock cooler. You can get an aftermarket cooling solution (preferribly water if you can do it) and it will cool it off quite a bit. My water block cooled mine off 25-30ºC under load, down to 55-60ºC which is tolerable. These things just generate a ton of heat no matter what you do with them.

Hello all,
I'm subscribing as well, just purchased a Asus 8800GTX a few days ago. I also ordered a HR 03plus to go with it but that hasn't arrived yet. Get back to you all in a few days

EDIT: Meanwhile, the HR 03 has arrived and the card is OCin like crazy. Momentaraly it's at 661/1535/1050(2100). It'll withstand 5+ minutes of artifact scanning but if I raise the gpu to 665 or higher, the card/system/AtoTool crashes. Is this common among the (Asus)GTX's or has the card maxxed out? I've already set the volts to 1.32 in the bios of the card, any tips what else I should do to surpass the 666 mark?

And NO, I'm not hard volt modding... yet

EDIT 2: screenie. posted it in the OC thread already, but for those of us that are lazy...

Look into how these cards actually overclock. They overclock in blocks, not individual mhz, that is probably why. If you've got a card doing those numbers, you must've gotten a good one! Mine only runs 650/1460/2000, period. Any higher it's a done deal.

Hi guys,

I have a single XFX 8800GTX, and it's probably the only bit in my new PC I'm not second-guessing and wishing I had bought differently. Very happy, and can't wait to begin tinkering with it.
