Yellow durelene... any guesses as to why?

Thread Starter
After 3 months use, running about 5 hours a week, my durelene tubing has yellowed considerably and i'm not sure why. I built my cpu loop out of a xspc rs240 dual radiator, raystorm copper and acetal block, x20 750 res pump, saint gobain durelene from Sidewinder Computers, and Mayhems Pastel Ice White. I washed everything out with dawn and hot water. I then ran the loop with straight distilled water for a day and flushed it out. After that I filled it with one part Mayhems and three parts distilled water. I'm not sure if it was plasticizer that caused the yellowing or not. I was under the impression that durelene wasn't supposed to yellow like this. Any ideas?

Which is precisely why I ditched the xspc tubing that came with the kit and used Durelene. :/

I would read through this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1380775/what-is-plasticizer

In short, all clear tubing will turn yeallow/slightly green after time. I have durelene and it's nasty looking too. Plan on switching it out for Primochill electric blue here soon most likely.

Any and all clear will go cloudy or yellowish, it is just how quickly will it do so. Options are colored tubing or Bitspower crystal link tubes/custom link tubes. This is why I went to black tubing since clear just yellows or clouds over. I wasn't gonna rebuild every month (or whatever) based on tubing.

Very nice thread you found there. I can't believe I never saw that one when searching for threads about durelene.

No problem! I can't take credit, just happened to see it cause I'm following the main plasticizer thread.
