How do I increase CPU fan speed?

Thread Starter
I just OCed my C2d rig to 3ghz and it idles at 40C with stock cooling. The RPM for the cpu fan says it is at 1757, can I manually max it out? If so, with what app?

Thanks

i don't think you can do that with an app. why not just buy an aftermarket cooler?

Check out a little utility called Speedfan, you can use it to up fan speeds on some mobo's...if it doesnt work on yours, you might try to overvolt the fan using a secondary PSU. Often running at +15v or +17v will give you a few hundred more RPM's outta any fan. This can often 'shorten' the life of cheaper fans..sometimes killing them altogether.

whichever fluctuates the most with an increase or decrease on processor load.
that's the easiest way.
