what nikon are you shooting? any of the cmos nikons produce fairly low noise.

D600 is older than the D7100 and has great ISO performance at 2/3 the cost of the Canon 5D Mark IIl (~0.4 ev better) and still 0.3ev better than the more comparable Canon 6D. Granted these cameras aren't exactly in the same price range as the cameras the OP appears to be discussing, but I definitely feel that there have been a few broad generalizations made here that are teetering on trolling..
