I'm helping a friend build a custom rig and in our search for processors we have come up with two possibilities. Both are 2.6ghz dual core AM2's. One is an opteron and one is in the fx-2 series. Miracuously we found them for the exact same price, the only difference being the opteron has a 1000mhz fsb and the fx-2 has a 2000mhz fsb. I run on a dual core opty and am very pleased with it, and I've tried to convince him to get it, but he doesn't believe me and the above stated difference seems to be the linch pin in his decision. Could somebody please tell me the real difference between a 1000 and a 2000 fsb so I can convince him with real information from the dependable minds at overclock.net!
