100% cpu utilization on flash games!!!!

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,
So, I have this Hp 5135nr laptop. It has 320GB HDD, 2 GB ram, 1.8 GHz (single core) and stock everything else. It has been slow so I reinstalled my Windows Ultimate 32bit and update everything as well as java/adobe flash player....etc. However, when playing any flash games, my cpu immediately goes to 100%. The ram will be around 20% to 32% at most. If I try to click on any program files, it turns white and wont load properly. Originally the laptop had Windows XP MCE 2005 and didnt have much issues for a few years except a replacement fan. What can cause that if you have more insight. THANKS thumb.gif

1 core = Disaster

Everything will run on that single core, even if teh game itself only uses about 30%, W7 uses the rest

I know single core sucks but back in the day it wasnt slow like this. Maybe the cpu is going out?????? or do you think I would have better results downgrading to Windows XP MCE 2005 (Stock)??
XP would help, but look in Task Manager for things that are hogging CPU usage

Windows 7 is much more of a resource hog than XP is. You could try Windows 8 which is about as light as XP.

Well, back in the day most programs were light enough that a single core was all that was necessary. Nowadays, everything uses at least a dual core and most CPUs are clocked in at 3GHz or higher. So you're a little outta luck there. :S

Reinstalling XP might help. Adding a SSD to the machine in place of the main drive would greatly help things out.

ITs mostly the Flash Player. Everything else runs very low until I click a flash games
post #10 of 13
Perfectly normal. Flash wrecked my C2D. If the CPU was really dying it would have other issues than pegging out on flash.

And no I don't think going back to XP will fix the issue.
