Which ram for Fx 8350 and Asus m5a97 Evo r2.0 - Page 2

I use Crucial Balistix in all my systems and have for years, plus any and all builds I do for others.
It has proven to me over the years to be the most dependable ram, I have used other ram, a lot of others, and some are great,
But I get great oc,s with crucial, next to no problems and only 1 return out of hundreds of sticks over the years.
Plus it looks GREAT!! My 1866 in my sig rig is oc,ed to 2030/9-9-9-22-30, runs great, with head room if I want.

So for both amd and intel systems a 1866 cl9 would be better than 2133 cl11 and 1600 cl9.
Then the crucial ram will be a bit ahead for the rest (as the kingston 2400Mhz will have the same performance as the 2133 in mobos that go as far as 2133) Also The Gskill seems to have a biiiit better timings than the 2133 kingston.
Whatever it is,ram prices went up last month like 20%

Oh i found this 2133 CL9 ,a bit off my price range but if it will be way better thant Gskill 2133 CL11 (most chances to buy) and Crucial 1866 CL9 then i may push it. Except benchmarks will i see any difference?

Edit : So ,the question for 2133 CL11 vs 2133 CL9 . Are 14 pounds (~22 dollars) worth the performance difference? Do timings make so much difference or it isn't worth it? [Gaming and multitasking]

May the gods be with me if anyone classifies this post as "Thread Jumping". It is meant as a warning - and definitely not an intrusion;

Here is what I posted on the ASUS ROG site:
Quote:
Briefly, I set up my ASUS M5A97 EVO Motherboard in another case where it ran perfectly with identical hardware. After moving it to a much larger HAF case, it no longer recognizes either my Corsair XMS or Vengeance RAM. Please understand that I have been building computers for 25 years such that:

1) I always use vinyl gloves and a static strap.

2) I only purchase 1st class components, though this is my cheapest motherboards - others are Crosshair IV and V's

3) PSU is Seasonic - brand new (yes, I tested it and also switch it for another brand-new Corsair)

4) I push the RAM Test button and the motherboard goes through all the acceptable voltages - and then freezes at solid RED

5) Reset the BIOS

6) Tested all RAM sticks one by one as per normal procedure

My only conclusion, based on Process of Elimination, is that the DIM modules are defective.

Question: Has this problem been experienced by others on this board?

The G.Skill kit is high timings because it is low voltage 1.50V. Once you increase voltage to the same 1.65V as the other chips, it can do much better specs. thumb.gif

Cheers
