Help Choosing Surround Sound Wireless Headset! - Page 3

My roommate does his gaming on a pair of Sennheiser HD598s with a Fiio E7, and the soundstage is very good. They lack the boomy bass that most people associate with gaming headphones, but the detail is superb for headphones of that price. And since they were designed for music, you get beautiful listening there as well. It's probably not the best setup for you, but I'm throwing it out there because I have tried it myself. But if you want what I've read, I would suggest the Audio-Technica AD900, which is the open variant of the most recommended of all gaming headphones, the AD700. And as for virtual surround, download a copy of Razer's Surround program, as they're giving it away for free right now in hopes that you'll donate to Child's Play.

I have 598's on a Sound Blaster Zx and I find the bass nearly overpowering. You sure your roommate hasn't turned the bass down purposely? because I had to for BF3 (sounded great, just couldn't hear footsteps anymore)

they are amazing though - the sound quality of 598's really do feel above their price. if only they weren't noctua colored...probably goin gto paint mine tongue.gif

I have a feeling that your sound card is doing that. I did a side by side comparison of the 598s with both my Denon AH-D2000s and V-Moda M100s through my HiFiMAN EF2. The bass was very very good, but seemed anemic compared to my headphones.

I am also having problems choosing a multi-purpose set of wireless 7.1 headphones.

But these look good; with the soundcard in the headset itself....

I just dont know if I have the patience to wait another couple of weeks.

For me, the poorer alternative, is the Recon 3D Omega.
