Skyrim newborn here in need of help. The good news here is that my game save is the scene after the intro (where you get your first clothes), so there is no issue eith me restarting if need be.
However, my problem is that even with an easy 60+ fps from fraps with no mods installed, the game s not smooth when walking while swinging the camera left or right. It also has slight hitches when strafing in front of a wall.
I tried a solution I read online that had me change a few ini commands while adding a frame limiter file and dx9 file. It fixed the problems, but it introduced tearing which my Radeon Pro wouldn't eliminate even when I forced triple buffering and Vsync on.
So i disabled that "fix"' and am back at square one. Help please? My Win7 rig:
ASRock Extreme3 Gen3 mobo ''' Sapphire ATI HD 6970 @900/1400 ''' Intel i5-2500K CPU @4.4 GHz
Crucial M4 64GB SSD ''' Samsung F3 Spinpoint 1TB HDD ''' 8GB PC3-10667 RAM ''' Antec EarthWatts 650W Green
Sony 60" 3D Bravia NX-720 ''' Yamaha RX-V667 receiver ''' Velodyne Front Row speakers x5 ''' BIC H-100 sub
EDIT: And after hours of searching, I stumbled on a solution. In the SkyrimPref.ini file. you need to leave iPresentinterval set to 1, and with the StutterFix mod you need to edit the antilag.cfg file and change FPSlimit to 0 (leave RenderAheadLimit set at 2).
No more stutter, no more tearing, and still 60fps before adding mods. Edited by arredondo - 10/6/13 at 9:39am
