I have reason to believe that my hdd may be dead after months of windows 8 telling me that my hardrive was failing. SO i'm just wondering if thats actually what happened and thats what needs to be replaced. I need a new drive i want a 2tb drive for no more than $150 any suggestions?

i didnt know where to post this so, sorry if its in the wrong place.

That's easy if it is a desktop (3.5") HDD.  Look here.  If I remember correctly, Microcenter will ship most parts anywhere; other parts can only be scheduled for "In store pickup" (it does not look like they have a Florida branch, however).  Right now, I see a Toshiba 2TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s Desktop 3.5" for $90 that they will ship anywhere — this is a brand-new HDD.

Hope that helps!  thumb.gif

Edited to target a Florida shipping destination

Thanks for your reply jamar! I am planning to use the drive for the os and games . I can't afford two drives. So everything is going on one drive and I want a fast drive with fast response and loading times for applications and games. You think the WD drives are good ?

Here is that same hard drive from amazon for a couple of bucks cheaper.

http://www.amazon.com/WD-Red-NAS-Hard-Drive/dp/B008JJLZ7G/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1367340368&sr=1-2&keywords=caviar+red

I personally like Western Digital and haven't had many problems with them. You could go cheaper if you went with a Western Digital Green drive but at a performance cost.

Will these drives work for my mobo? And should I just spend the extra $30 and get a WD black ? Thoughts on this drive for speed and reliability?

I appreciate it but I don't want that much storage. What do you think about this drive for me ? Speed? Reliability? Is it better than the spinpoint f3?

Looks good to me except it's $159 without shipping, which is over the $150 figure you gave us.  I recommended Microcenter because they usually have very good prices on the things they sell, and they will ship most items to you just like newegg.

Also, I second dbtenken's post about getting the WD HDD from Amazon instead of newegg; the HDDs look practically identical and it costs $99 from Amazon instead of $159 from newegg.  Please don't limit yourself to newegg; places like Amazon, Microcenter, and even eBay sometimes (frequently?) have better prices.  smile.gif
