Franchise To The Big Screen

PARIS - December 6, 2012 - Today, Ubisoft® and New Regency announced that they are partnering on the forthcoming Tom Clancy's™ Splinter Cell® film.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures, the film and television division of Ubisoft, will develop the Splinter Cell movie in close collaboration with New Regency. Ubisoft also recently announced it attached award-winning actor Tom Hardy and up-and-coming screenwriter Eric Warren Singer ("The International") to the film.

"With actor Tom Hardy attached and screenwriter Eric Warren Singer to write the script, Ubisoft Motion Pictures will lead the development with the support of New Regency to bring the franchise to the big screen in a dynamic way," said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer, Ubisoft Motion Pictures. "For Ubisoft Motion Pictures, creative control is key and New Regency shares our commitment to respecting the creative freedom of our team. Their ability to produce both blockbusters and intriguing indie hits is an ideal fit for the Splinter Cell franchise."

This deal is separate from but builds upon the recent partnership between Ubisoft and New Regency to develop the Assassin's Creed® film.

Tom Clancy's™ Splinter Cell® is an award-winning stealth action video game series that has sold more than 23 million copies since its debut in 2002. Splinter Cell follows protagonist Sam Fisher, a highly-trained special operative in a fictional black-ops sub-division, "Echelon". Sam Fisher and the agents of Echelon utilize combat skills, weapons and cutting-edge gadgets to neutralize international terrorist threats and rogue forces in modern, realistic stories ripped from the headlines. Development for the next installment, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Blacklist™, is being led by the Ubisoft Toronto studio, and the game is set for release in Spring 2013.

The Ubisoft Motion Pictures was created in January 2011 to expand the audience of Ubisoft's successful video game brands by bringing them to film, television and Web series. In addition to the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell film, the studio is also partnering with New Regency on the upcoming film based on the Assassin's Creed franchise, and is in production on the Rabbids TV series, a collection of 78 seven-minute CGI episodes based on the insane stars of the video game franchise of the same name, in partnership with France Televisions and Nickelodeon.

Yeah iam really excited about this one! Conviction was a let-down in a few areas but it made-up for it in others I think but Blacklist should be good! - Only real downside 4 me is they didn't use Michael Ironside playing Sam Fishers voice, But maybe as the series continues we can get used to it? ...... Big mistake Ubisoft you should of kept Michael Ironside hes been sam fisher since the 1st original spliner cell series!.......... I don't know what they were thinking but the game does look great I cant wait!

Iam happy about them bringing back some of the old aspects of the original games back like the knife for example! ..... I think we need to stick to the roots of this game and not push it too outside its boundries people weren't happy when conviction took a turn for the worse- We need a gamer running ubisoft studio I think lol....I just hope it dosent back-fire on them and the series takes a dive for the worse so a lot is ridding on this upcoming Blacklist! ............ My 2 cents anyway

I read today that the game will have no menus so to speak and it will include single player side missions. More missions was all the SC games lacked. They were long enough but optional side content for us die hard fans is great. No DLC junk either as it sounds at the moment.

I agree....sad to see that signature voice we all know and love go. Silver lining(always looking for one) is that the new guy they got matches the characters facial geometry and he did put a ton of time into research and figuring out how we wanted to approach the role as Sam Fisher. I guess he is an iconic character like James Bond and thus never ages past a certain point. When the actor they get does they just replace him. It sucks but then again it is also my favorite series and to see it just end would be worse.

Release staggered in EU by a day? Well at least you have me to test it day one and tell you if its a bug ridden nightmare like Double Agents PC release(lets hope not).
