D/L Throttlewatch from the link I provided makryu and run Orthos or Prime and see if your CPU is throttling. Throttles around 70°c.

My 7800GS can idle at 35°c if I want, cold bug though so I don't let it. Idles now at 38-41c.
If your card is idling at 47-49c that tells me you need better system cooling.
The 7800GS dumps all the hot air into the chassis..freakin oven in there.
Do like I suggested to makryu and pull off the side panel and point a house fan into it and see how your system performs.
With the case open, the green and yellow bars avg around 50%. Theres no throttle.

The cpu idles at 58C with the case open, when I stress it, it goes to 61-63.
I have the 1300xt in there right now, and the gpu for that card is 46-48 as well, so its the same as the 7800gs.

I guess Ill try getting a different Motherboard and a new fan and thermal grease. The cpu does seem a little hot.
You know what makryu mentioned that he did not think his CPU fan was working. Thats odd these folks are having CPU heat problems with the same MOBO.
How about you piggyback the CPU fan off a molex, just maybe the Mobo fan header is borked up.

Yes but what about with the case closed, does it throttle?

LOLOL 70 posts later and the culprit rears its ugly head.
Try the CPU fan piggybacked off a molex instead of the Mobo header or try a different fan header.

k so in the options menu for Company of Heroes, it says next to all the graphics options what it uses, wether it needs faster cpu/memory/video card.

I turned everything that needs cpu on low. For everything that uses the video card, I put it on highest, I also turned on anti-aliasing. It ran smoothly.

BTW this might be a good time to say what I just remembered, when I was putting the cpu into the motherboard, I whiped off all the thermal pasting cause it kept getting on my hands... thought it wouldnt make a difference, but

You need to get a Molex to 3 Pin adapter

Then run it to your HDD and plug a spare molex into the adapter

It may be easier just to try a different Mobo plug for now if you have enough length to reach.

Regardless of the game settings you still need to get your temperatures under control. You wanna be able to play at higher settings don't you
