OCN TOS on this contest are as follows:
* The waterblock giveaway will be open to all members but shall be posted in the watercooling section.
* The winner of the waterblock is not allowed to put it up for resale on OCN. If they attempt to do so their thread will be deleted.

This thread is Water Block Shoot Out Results , Answer all Questions in the Poll, that's why it's there.

Poll closes Sunday the 24th with the Final WB's rusults posted Xmas Day.

Our own, now renouned, Water Block Smith Fstfrddy/Fred Stinger goes head to head with his DYI
drill press V6 all copper/brass E channel WB against the, arguably best selling retail Wb, Apogee.
And yes fans he is nervous, but, rest assured, his concerns may be unfounded.

This test will match the Apogee against the Stinger V6 and Stingers only S channel/dual outlet WB.
The wildcard that makes this a 3 party tag-team will be the underdog D/O S channel, with
optional dual input test, as requested.

Test Criteria: This is a High/Low ball affair and all contestants will be
tested/judged on Highest CPU OC and Lowest WB Temps only.

Where's the free crap?

Rules for WB Giveaway:

All qualifying contestants must have more than 25? post.
Hey, Jesus died on the 25th. And as a Pagan that's more than fair.

Correctly guess the WB winners in order of overall knock out,
i.e., first to third place/ties according to final test results.

Correctly answer 2 questions about Rudolph, Rankin/Bass 1964 Xmas classic.
1. What do Bumbles do?
2. What do kids expect Santa to be on Chrismas?
Answers: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058536/

Thanks to Transonic/Burn/OCN Staff for approval, Respect to Fred Stinger, Jesus
for the spirit of GiveAway and hey it's only money/***.

V6 results will be up by this morning 18/12/06.

OKAY! Forgot how slow ImageShack can be. But, with no further addo our first
competitor:

Stingers V6's hisghest ustable results were:

And Stinger V6's hisghest/3DMark '03 stable results were:

And the system backed down to 2664.06Mhz is currently running -3ºC/21ºC @ Idle.

And our second competitor:

The Apogee's Highest unstable results were:

And Apogee's hisghest/3DMark '03 stable results were:

And the Highest Apogee OC attained, was so unstable that windows rebooted during screenshot. And it will be disallowed
by rule of non OEM hardware and WB mod required for its achievement.

*This last result was not an OEM/out of box experience. It was only accomplished after reboring the mounting holes
to 2/64 over on my drillpress, eliminatting the mobo back plate, and using Stinger WB mounting hardware.

To allow these reusults as valid, I feel would be unfair to the other WB's in the lineup and not within the intended scope of this Shootout.*

And our final and Winning competitor:

Stinger D/O's hisghest ustable results were:

And Stinger D/O's hisghest/3DMark '03 stable results were:

I'm not entering the contest, but I would like to say "Thanks" for taking the time to do this....It's very kind of you to give away an "Apogee", there are a lot of youngsters here who could really use it...

LOL...Im betting...freddies FTW!

1-> V6 Stinger
2-> apogee
3-> Stinger S

This is my prediction....although I would really like to see a "homegrown" take the cake for 1st and 2nd.....I think the apogee just might edge out the "S" block.

Best wishes to Freddie S. in the upcoming event!

In my tests the S block and the V6 ran neck and neck, I could not get a discernable difference so we shall see, different pump maybe. Remember that even Cathar didn't continue making dual outlet blocks.
Also, I recuse myself from the contest, good luck to the contestants

As for the dual inlet test, from the builders point of view
but who knows I may be wrong. I think it may benefit more from 2 seperate return lines.

I'll order a V6 from you some day....I need to lap my cpu first, and possibly get another rad 1st. I like the design of your blocks a lot...Q for you though, would it be possible for you to modify an existing block to 'mimick' yours...a sort-of- "pseudo-stinger"? I think the intake jet on your blocks is a top-notch idea, and want soooo badly to incorporate it into my TDX...if possible that is.

*I know I should post..but-> would drilling small indentations on the inside bottom of a water block be an effective way to 'add' surface area and lower temps?
post #8 of 105
Of course it's possible, I doubt the TDX is 1/4 NPT, or you could just use one of mine.

It's just about time to rock this puppy down to showtime.

The new external water box is up and chillin', with the first victim
on it's 24hr torture burn-in.
