Or buy whatever you want each year then sell it to fund the next build. This way you take a small loss but remain at cutting edge.

Your logic of you don't understand why people pay extra for a lil more performance also applies to GPU's, look at the Titan it costs almost 3 times the 7970 Ghz but doesn't even performe twice as good, in fact its beaten in some compute tests. There's bonkers value for you but if you say that in a Titan thread it will get flamed..

Point is, when it comes to PC's it's very much 'each to their own' that's the beauty of a PC you can build it to suit your own needs.

I would much rather have a 4960x than a 4770k, quad channel memory, decent motherboard on X79. full bandwidth PCI-E slots etc. Just because I like that stuff doesn't mean it's for everyone..

I plan on two build over the next year. One for me and one for my kids.. My PC is a workhorse, not just used for gaming.

4960x, HD 8970, 32GB DDR3, 'X79 UD5'

4770K, GTX 660, 8GB DDR3, 'Z78 Gigabyte'

Pheonix777z you have a good point if one person have the means to have the very best why not right? Maybe in my point of view is wasting money but maybe that person has money to burn biggrin.gif for me it makes a difference for others not really. Yay for high tech thumb.gif

I just want to see what exploit they've discovered in CPU-z. tongue.gif

Simple, leave it idle with High Performance set as your Windows power plan.  CPU-Z shows full speed, but idle voltage.

My amazing 2600K does 4.6 with only 1.1V.

my haswell is on my desktop and website now.

This may sounds stupid but Haswell is the last CPU for this chip set right? Broadwell changes everything up?

Havent been following it closely.. But thinking of turning in my 2700k for a Haswell and then calling it quits on the upgrading for the next 3 years..

Rumors state that Broadwell desktop chips will still be LGA1150, but everything else (ITX, ultrabook, tablets) will be soldered onto the mobo.

Thanks ZombieJon.. I checked a month or so again when it was coming up on the news feed and I thought they were saying the Broadwell would be soldered to, which I thought was stupid.

I am sure sooner or later they will do that? Anything to make moar money!
