[ocaholic/wccf] Intel Core i7-4770K Overclocked to 7 GHz – Several Z87 Motherboards Including ASUS Maximus VI Extreme Spotted - Page 4

Impressive, want to see how much they can clock on water not LN2

FX 8350 can do stable 5Ghz on air if you have a good cooler at price of 70$ like Phanteks with two/three fans and a better thermal paste.

That much voltage on motherboard is an overkill, it surely went nuclear except that person had an experimental Russian liquid and submerged the whole PC inside otherwise its false or its not but then CPU and motherboard went nuclear after less than a minute. Call the mythbusters guys!

Someone could edit the registery and site and put photoshoped images.

Don't believe it ultil reviews and official results!

Yeah the 3930k's aren't cheap, they might drop in price a bit when the Haswell and Ivy - E launches. 6 cores is better than 4 especially moving forward..

I'm disappointed that the Haswell midrange won't have a 6 core, even worse the Ivybridge - E line won't have an 8 core. The next couple of gens on Intel CPU's seem like snoozers. Things will get interesting again with Broadwell imho. The most exciting thing to happen in Computer industry for years is AMD's HSA architecture.

Only time will tell if Haswell will be a good overclocker or not, but this looks impressive
voltage doesn't mean much if it runs too hot.

Yeah that 4770K picture has HT disabled (you can see the 4/4 in CPU-Z) so I'm like hrmmmm.

Agreed. I've just been stuck with this snooze-dozer 8120 for too long. I've never had an intel processor so I'm intrigued to see what they have to offer in terms of performance. But yes, I'm pretty stoked about AMD's new architecture. If what they are claiming is true, and is going to REALLY catch up to intel in terms of performance, and will still own the market when it comes to price point. This is honestly a really exciting year for amd, and if they do well it will force intel to be more competitive: everybody wins. thumb.gif

Maybe HT requires a bit more power and the cpu gets hotter with this turned on.

Very nice to see. Maybe we can see 5GHz normal for most chips! wheee.gif

FX 8350 can already do that, a phanteks cooler with 2 or 3 fans and a better thermal paste.
